💪Turning failure into opportunity
A common trait we often see among our guests who’ve had continued success in their business, career or life is their ability to take on feedback – direct or indirect – and use it to their advantage.
Mike Campbell talks about how negative feedback can ultimately be freeing as it tells you what’s specifically not working and opens other avenues to direct your focus.
We loved hearing his approach to failure and how it creates an opportunity to take one more step in the journey.

The recently conducted tree planting activity, in partnership with Bureau of Fire Protection - Solsona & Barangay Rangers, was a resounding success! We have planted a variety of tree & fruit seedlings last Saturday.
Aside from fulfilling our cause to aid the restoration of our environment, our eyes feasted on lush green valleys of Solsona, Ilocos Norte.
Magnificent work, team! We are all grateful for the opportunity to help our planet.
Here's to more environmental activities in the near future! 🌱💚
The bigger they are, the harder they fall!
This week the story of Evaldas Rimasauskas, a Lithuanian man who defrauded Google and Facebook of $122M using a spear phishing campaign back in 2019, has been doing the rounds on social media. This reminds us that even these Silicon Valley goliaths aren’t completely immune to being scammed.
Rimasauskas created a fake company with the name of a computing provider used by both Facebook and Google. He then sent a letter impersonating their financial institution to the relevant accounts departments, changing the bank account details on record and began issuing false invoices to the two tech giants.
Between 2013 and 2015, he collected a total of around $122M from fraudulent invoices.
A common problem we talk about with clients is single point of failure. More often than not, these large scale failings and frauds occur due to a process problem rather than a people problem. What systems weren’t adequately incorporated into the accounting and financial management process that allowed one man to siphon off over $100M from two of the world’s biggest and most sophisticated tech companies?
In this case, it would appear that authority to execute didn’t have robust enough safety parameters around it. Whether it was just one person who approved and completed the transaction or insufficient checks and balances on the validity of the accounts and payments being transferred.
But single points of failure don’t just create huge catastrophes like this one. It can be small things that add unnecessary risk to your business - an outsourced accountant that goes on leave for 3 weeks, a client going bust with outstanding invoices, or critical IP to your business living in someone’s head rather than properly documented.
We work with Australian SMEs to prevent single points of failure from impacting your business and livelihood. From accounting and financial management, IT infrastructure and security, back-office admin and automation, and compliance and business intelligence. Providing a managed service that, unlike other outsourced solutions, becomes an integrated part of your team. One that can scale up or down as you require it.
Reduce your exposure to single points of failure and ensure your business’s legacy for generations to come! Reach out to us today and see how we can help.
🚨Is your business at risk?
One of the most popular attack vectors for hackers is via vulnerabilities in employee digital workspaces. That's why it is imperative that all software and operating systems are kept up to date.
Each month, the major tech providers (Apple, Google and Microsoft) release the list of vulnerability patch updates made during the previous period. We'll share them here with you to demystify the process and give you greater clarity on your device security.
Vulnerabilities:
Apple - 1 critical, 19 high
Google - 1 critical, 36 high
Microsoft - 6 critical, 53 high

I failed. I'm a failure. Too completely different statements. However, often used interchangeably among so many of us.
Making the distinction can be the difference between evolving towards success or staying stuck in a cycle of self-flagellation and blame.
Standing up to failure with Mike Campbell and Chris Kendall
💥Repeat with me 'I have failed, but I am NOT a failure!'. The distinction is an important one to make if you want to have success in any of life's pursuits. Today's guest on the Anti-Failure Podcast is Mike Campbell, sharing his knowledge and wisdom from over a decade of helping Aussie men become Everyday Legends.
Mike started a personal training career in his early 20s. Over time this evolved into a broader coaching business that focused on all areas of personal development, not just fitness. He is now a coach and mentor, author, public speaker, husband, father and friend. But not necessarily in that order. Chris and Mike discuss the value of failures if handled with a level of emotional maturity, how to get out of your own way, the mental roadblocks to entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable behaviour change.

🎠Too many people put the cart before the horse.
Chasing the shining trappings of success can be a fruitless pursuit as the goalposts always move in a perpetual game of keeping up with the Joneses.
But when your objective is to create legacy, then the money flows. As does the sense of purpose and joy in what you're doing.
🎸"It can be as lonely at the top as at the bottom of that corporate tree." - Dave Faulkner, Hoodoo Gurus
Ryan talks about CEOs and Founders carrying all the stress. But Chris has uncovered throughout a lot of these discussions with small business owners is the loneliness. Created by the fear of 'Where's the next payment coming from?' 'Are we on the right path?' 'Can I make payroll this month?'
Having the courage to step through those fires and simply do the next right thing is what carries most leaders forward. And in many cases, it's all we can do.
We'd love to hear your hardest or most stressful business moment. Please share in the comments.
You can always make more cash but you can't buy back time or replace core memories.
Accidental CEO, Ryan Gilbank, giving wisdom on building a legacy beyond the numbers and things that really matter.
🤝Business is done human to human and people sometimes forget that.
Most business success is built off the back of strong relationships. Ryan Gilbank believes whole-heartedly that aligning our behaviour (in and out of the office) to our internal moral compass and striving to create win-wins at every interaction is a key component to longevity in any business.
👨💼Accidental CEO👨💼
Ryan Gilbank was helping a mate broker the sale of his business when he realised it was such a great deal that he bought it himself. In this episode of the Anti-Failure Podcast, Chris and Ryan discuss the evolution from employee to business owner and the journey to becoming the leader that your team needs you to be.
Ryan also shares his passion for giving and how it's been one of the biggest factors for driving growth, and the importance of creating legacy over simply chasing more revenue. If you've been second-guessing taking that entrepreneur leap, Ryan's story will provide inspiration and some helpful tools to take your first step.

🗣️While feedback is essential to growth, sometimes it can be a bitter pill to swallow.
Feedback is crucial to identify blind spots and encourage continuous learning. Additionally, feedback builds stronger relationships by fostering trust and respect within the team and with clients.
Taking feedback effectively requires an open mind and to approach it with curiosity rather than defensiveness. It's also really important to separate yourself from your work, remembering that feedback is about your performance, not your personal worth.
💬 Tips for Giving Constructive Feedback:
1. Be Specific - Clearly explain the issue and provide examples.
2. Be Timely - Give feedback soon after the event or behaviour you’re addressing.
3. Be Respectful - Approach the conversation with empathy and respect.
Incorporating feedback effectively helps the individual as well as the business as a whole. Creating a culture that supports continued improvement, honest and transparent communication, and mutual respect and trust will ultimately yield greater success.
🛥️ A real-life shipwreck tale 🛥️
You've just wrapped up an amazing day diving with whale sharks in some of the world's clearest water.
Sitting below deck, you scroll through the captured images and videos. Basking in your favourite moments. When people above you start screaming.
Then everything goes quiet.
The cabin fades to darkness and you feel the water around your ankles. Within seconds it laps at your waist and quickly engulfs your chest.
Soon there'll be no air left. So you take what could be your last breath and swim for it.
10...20...30... Nothing but the deep blue abyss.
You finally emerge. Alive. Intact. Gasping to fill your lungs with the cool night air.
But now the work begins.
Find out if Chris Eagar, his brothers and all the crew make it home safely in the latest episode of the Anti-Failure Podcast.

🎯What gets measured gets managed!
But it can be challenging for most business owners to step out of their own way to spend time on evaluating the performance of the business. Connor shares some of his tricks to making sure his finger is always on the pulse and that his entire team is aligned.

🧠 Focus on one thing!
The biggest trap for business owners is trying to do everything. Be everything to everyone. Work out what the biggest levers for you as business owner are and prioritise those. Everything else can be delegated, outsourced or deprioritised for later.
🏈What lessons can be parlayed from sport into business?
Culture is probably the biggest one - a champion team will always beat a team of champions. We see this narrative play out time and time again in sport. And many businesses talk about culture, but how do they make it more than just a catchphrase painted on an office wall?
Connor shares his learnings on culture and how to build one with purpose in your business.

Big news coming for NSW GP practices in the next week, potentially with the state budget release on June 18. RACGP has been deep in negotiations with NSW Labor around payroll tax changes, intent on finding a middle ground that suits all parties and still supports the medical industry.
As for the bulk billing offer extended to Victorian and South Australian practices, we concur with the author here and highly recommend speaking to your lawyer and/or accountant to understand what the ramifications are for YOUR practice.

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
Finding people that align with your and your business's core values is generally more important than ticking boxes on a resume. You can always upskill staff, but you can't necessarily teach them to care.
What are your hiring non-negotiables?
