We’re thrilled to support the People First Bank Foundation’s “Community at Heart Appeal”. From Monday, 12 August until Friday, 16 August, all Heritage branches will support Zephyr Education Inc by acting as collection points for water bottles and school lunchboxes for children starting a new school as a result of domestic violence. Pop in to your local branch to donate.

💜We’re super excited to be launching the Foundation’s first Community at Heart Appeal as the People First Bank Foundation.💜
The Appeal will run from Monday 12 to Friday 16 August.

This year we have upped the ante and will be supporting two amazing charities. An aim of the Appeal is to encourage the Bank’s members to use the branch network as a point to donate the much needed goods.

Heritage, People’s Choice, and People First Bank branches in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Northen Territory will again support Education by collecting water bottles and school lunchboxes for children starting a new school as a result of domestic violence.

In South Australia, People First Bank and People’s Choice branches will help Backpacks 4 SA Kids INC. by collecting pyjamas for children and youth who have become displaced from their homes often as a result of a trauma and with little to no personal belongings.

Both of these organisations struggle to collect enough of these respective items to meet the needs of the children they support.

This is a great opportunity to come together as a collective to showcase what having the Community at Heart can achieve.

There is a worldwide issue affecting Windows devices connected to the platform provider, Crowdstrike, which is causing outages globally. Members’ funds are safe but some services are intermittently impacted including mobile and internet banking. This is not a cyber attack on Heritage Bank. Our teams are working on maintaining continuity of services and we’ll keep you updated.

Please also be alert to scammers who may try to persuade you to give them remote access your devices to resolve this issue.

We’re excited to share that our new People First Bank signs are now proudly displayed on our Ruthven Street head office in Toowoomba.

The city of Toowoomba’s skyline has a fresh new look with "People First Bank" signs now adorning our Ruthven Street head office that’s been home to Heritage Bank since 1983.

We’re thrilled to have launched our new People First Bank name and brand into the Australian marketplace, and it’s now showing loud and proud on our rooftop in Toowoomba. We’re proud of our Heritage legacy and excited about our future under the People First Bank banner, creating a compelling national alternative to the big banks.

Despite the new corporate name, we still continue to trade under our existing retail brands—Heritage Bank and People’s Choice—during the merger integration process. For our Toowoomba members, daily banking remains unchanged, with branches still branded as Heritage Bank for now.

Stay tuned as we continue on our exciting journey, with the Adelaide office to follow at a later date.

We have some exciting news today about our leadership team at People First Bank.

We have some exciting news today, in line with our announcements at the time of our merger last year. Steve Laidlaw, our Deputy CEO, will succeed Peter Lock as CEO of People First Bank on 1 July. Steve was previously CEO of People's Choice before our merger, so is perfectly placed to lead the bank into our bright future.

After nearly nine years as CEO, starting at Heritage Bank, we are saying goodbye to Peter Lock, who will be retiring on 31 August. Peter leaves behind a legacy of excellent growth and customer satisfaction, setting us on a solid path forward.

We can also announce changes at Board level. Deputy Chairman Kerry Betros and Director Georgina Williams will retire at this year's AGM on 14 November. Kerry's dedication to our organisation, spanning back to 1991, has been instrumental, while Georgina's contributions since 2021 have also played a valuable role in the company’s success.

A heartfelt thank you to Peter, Kerry, and Georgina for their outstanding service, and a warm welcome to Steve as our new CEO.

Say hello to the People First Bank Foundation, the new name for the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation. While we have a new look and name, our focus and philosophy of support has not changed. In fact, we’re building on the legacy we started as the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation.

We are thrilled to announce that our foundation is changing its name to reflect our new brand and will now be known as the People First Bank Foundation. The People First Bank Foundation was created to become a force for good in Australia’s philanthropic community. With our new name, our goal is to build on our bank’s legacy of exceptional community support by providing grants and assistance to deserving charitable organisations.
