We had so much fun creating this outdoor area for a retired gentleman in Point Lonsdale. He wanted to enjoy his spa, sauna and outdoor dining with his family and friends. The boys crafted the area out of spotted gum, hiding the bathroom behind a curved feature wall of battens, and using copper piping and spotted gum timber to create the spa fence. This project felt less like work and more like a fun history lesson as the lovely gentleman kept the boys laughing with his stories of a lifetime of adventure and travel, and he made endless cups of tea for them all throughout the months of labour! We were gifted with a book about his life, and this will be a ‘job’ that we will talk about for years to come.

Great to see our 3rd year apprentice Bailey speaking to St Ignatius College about his experience of gaining an apprenticeship at their careers expo. We have really enjoyed taking on St Ignatius work experience students and The Gordon Tafe students over the years, and a few of them have gained apprenticeships with us just like Bailey.

Bailey Ash completed Year 12 in 2020 under the guidance of homeroom teacher Ms. Stacey Learmonth before completing a Certificate III in Carpentry At The Gordon TAFE, Geelong.

Bailey, is currently completing his 3rd year apprenticeship, and was inspired by Mr Justin Coffey and Mr Nathan Patterson during his academic journey at Saint Ignatius College.

Home sweet home. Now that the weather is getting cooler, there is nothing better than getting cosy next to a wood fire in your own home.

Our 2021 Yellow Gums project has come up a treat. Nestled amongst the gum trees in the Yellow Gums nature reserve our aim was to blend in with the surrounding bush land. Project: Bluff Views Ocean Grove 2020

A lift is not the prettiest feature of a home, but if you plan to retire in a 3 storey home or you have ageing guests then it’s a necessity. Blending function with design is never easy but it’s what we’re skilled in. This photo doesn’t show it, but the timber that wraps up the side of the lift is the same as the flooring on the staircase and in the kitchen. So as you walk up the stairs you actually don’t notice the lift tucked into the corner. The original home didn’t have a lift shaft so we had to open up an entire section of the home to install it and ensure it made sense on each storey. We worked closely with on this one- our job was to ensure the lift functioned well and was structurally sound, and her job was to make it seem as though it wasn’t there. I think we nailed it 👌🏻

“We build beautiful homes for you to spend lockdown in”...Maybe this will become our new slogan?! But seriously, it’s becoming apparent that the design of our homes needs to now accommodate spending more time in them with extended family. All of those families that have designated study areas, outdoor spaces and sound proofing will have less stress at Dan’s announcement today than those that don’t. Make sure you take into account our ‘new normal’ in your house designs everyone and have a chat to our design and build team if you don’t know where to start! If you love being creative with your spaces, then please know that our passion is BUILDING creative spaces! Instead of saying ‘No that’s too hard/ time consuming/ beyond our skill level’ we say ‘Sure, let’s find a way!’. This curved wall was fun to create, and out of shot is a specialised bidet which required liaison with international reps to install. One of my favourite parts of this room is also the angled bath which looks out over the pool below 😍

In the past few years the projects we’ve worked on have been mind blowing 🤯. And at the end of the day the praise comes all our way for delivering such a stunning home 🤣 but the reality is that the design comes from you, our client and we just do the creating!

So what do you do though if you want a designer home but don’t know how to get there? OR, you have ideas in your head but you’re not sure the Builder will accurately create your vision? Well we’re GOOD but we’re not that good, so luckily we work with some of the best designers around our little coastal town!

We’ve got building designers that draw your vision for you and create a visual for those that don’t like a floor plan. Then we’ve got interior designers that will help you with colours, furniture, styling and pulling it all together. If outdoors is your thing and you’re more worried about the pool than the piano then landscape designers will match the outdoors to the indoors.

In the country we call it a one stop shop, but I believe the more appropriate industry term is ‘From concept to completion’ 😉
