INTRODUCING THE PARTNERS: NINO

Nino holds many connections to Shanikas, the earliest one being the fact he used to babysit Shanika (the original owners daughter and the inspiration for our name). Nino started working in the business when he was a young boy at the original store in Glen Waverley. Inspired by his hard working parents, who held second jobs there, he quickly developed a strong work ethic that still serves him today.

Nino proudly boasts the achievement of having worked at every single Shanikas location throughout their existence, including Richmond, Mount Waverly, Pakenham, and Carrum Downs.

But it was as the tender age of 17, when Nino came to work at Berwick, that his love affair with the industry started. A couple of years later he met Rob. He asked Rob to come and join the team to which Rob replied ‘as long as you teach me everything you know’ to which Nino responded ‘as long as you do what I do - work 7 days a week, every day we were open’. The rest is history and together they have put Shanikas on the map.

One of Nino's core objectives is to identify exceptional individuals and provide them with the same opportunity that Shanikas once gave him. He understands the transformative power of the restaurant industry and the impact it can have on someone's life, and he is committed to paying it forward.

Being family-oriented, Nino takes immense pride in the fact that many families work together at the restaurant. Additionally, he cherishes the moments when he can work alongside his two daughters, Olivia and Allie, as well as his nieces, Julia and Claudia.

As arguably the face of Shanikas, Nino possesses a natural affinity for people, deriving immense joy from bringing happiness and eliciting smiles through providing exceptional experiences. His passion and commitment make him an invaluable asset to the restaurant and a beloved figure in the community
