Starting this week, all artists at Ex Animo Art Gallery will be back on display.

In the artist's words:

"I encapsulate vulnerability and resilience through the exposed neck amidst shattered glass. Each fractured shard mirrors a soul's journey, weathered by life's trials yet unwavering in strength.

Through brokenness, courage embraces vulnerability, transforming pain into empowerment. The fragmented imagery symbolizes scars of past experiences, each crack a testament to the resilience of the human spirit."

In this painting, the neck serves as a metaphor for unwavering resolve, reminding us that amidst adversity, strength lies in vulnerability, and beauty thrives in imperfection.

This impressive monument is an ancient open-air theatre in Rome, built in the final years of the Roman Republic, and completed in 13BC. 🏛️

With a capacity for 20,000 people and lined with white travertine marble throughout, this sculpture represents a small portion of this grand, opulent building.

Excited to announce Ex Animo's newest artist: Anthony Smerdon! 🎉

Following classical studies in high school, and with a love of Ancient History, architecture, and travel, Adelaide local Anthony Smerdon has become quite the sculptural craftsman.

Inspired by various buildings and monuments he has viewed worldwide and in Adelaide, he has spent over eight years transforming formless plaster into extraordinary, miniature versions of architectural wonders.

Smerdon developed his own unique style in recreating ancient monuments and Neoclassical structures, which he had encountered throughout his travels.

Possessing significant decorative value, these crisp white sculptures feature textured surfaces, meticulously carved detail, and distinct, linear edges that provide a compelling contrast against the soft finishes of a modern home.

Ex Animo Art’s newest sculptor will be present on the opening night of our 'Life at a Glance' exhibition to share his passion and vision for his work.

Zakis applies mathematical thinking to the painting process, achieving the effects of Sampled Realism - a contemporary technique that challenges the way the brain processes a scene.

After a month of trending pop art, Zakis was a bestseller. His new paintings have recently sold out, except for the one pictured here, which was longer in the making, arriving later than expected.

Zakis reflects on his latest piece, Rock View:

"My artwork provokes a unique experience, as the viewer observes how the brain processes the image. For example, the rock you see is made up of a whole lot of abstract shapes, vector shapes, and shadows. At the end of the day, I let people process and connect with the artwork how they want".
