Wild caught half shell scallops from the Abrolhos Islands, Australia's first sustainably certified scallops now available from Far West.

The sign on the factory manager's door simply says, "Gone Fishing".

After 39 years of almost uninterrupted service, Far West bids farewell to long time factory manager Peter Prescott. Much more than a factory manager and more than just a friend, you will be missed by everyone at Far West.

Best of luck to Peter and Kita in the next chapter of their life together.

The Abrolhos Island Scallop fishery has become the first scallop fishery in Australia to be certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.

As the largest license holder in the fishery, Far West Scallops is proud to be part of this significant announcement.

The certification of the fishery reflects the hard work and commitment of many people and Far West would like to thank the following -
- the West Australian government, for its ongoing support in certifying West Australian fisheries,
- the WA Department of Fisheries for prioritising the sustainability of fisheries in Western Australia and for undertaking the rigorous scientific research to validate sustainable fisheries management,
- WAFIC, for their support during the certification process,
- the MSC, for setting the standard for sustainable fishing
- MRAG Americas Inc for undertaking the certifying process, and
- all Far West customers, for valuing sustainable seafood.

With the ongoing support from these groups, Far West is hopeful that the Shark Bay and South Coast will join the Abrolhos Islands as MSC certified fisheries in the future, ensuring that Far West branded scallops can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Chef Vincent Lim will be using Far West scallops to cook his amazing Scallop Olek Nuoc Cham Me at The Square Mirrabooka this Saturday 4th September.
