What are your ? What are the messages you tell yourself every day that are stopping you moving forward?
According to the National Science Foundation, an average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are repetitive thoughts. The same thoughts day after day.
Stop for a moment and listen to what you’re saying to yourself. Most of it isn’t truth, it’s just a thought blocking you from where and who you want to be.
I’m excited to announce that I have completed my Mental Health First Aid training!
This will allow me to assist adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
As a practitioner, would you know who to refer to in case of a mental health emergency? A highly recommended course for all physiotherapists!

As Perth, W.A. continues to experience full lockdown, physiotherapists remain closed for face-to-face appointments, but Telehealth is encouraged and allowed.
Physiotherapy clinics are currently providing "Physio by video" which is online video consultations and rehabilitation using our Telehealth software. Research has shown that online provision of physiotherapy services is still very effective and safe by Telehealth. Research has also shown that diagnosis and assessment of your condition is just as accurate with Telehealth!
The Australian Physiotherapy Association has urged the Health Minister to reconsider the extent to which allied health services have been restricted and requested that face-to-face consults be allowed for patients requiring urgent physiotherapy care or those whose needs are likely to escalate if they can't be seen by their physiotherapist.
If anyone needs any advice in regards to their physiotherapy treatment, do not hesitate to PM me. Telehealth can always be offered and discussed.

This article displays one of the reasons why my passion is HUGE for what I do.
As Physio’s, we have the opportunity to be the catalyst that drives someone to change their behaviours in order to get from where they are now (usually in pain, usually unable to do the thing they love) to where they want to be (out of pain, doing the things they love).
If our touch, our manual therapy, can assist in beginning that journey, then we are lucky we have the skills to build trust by using it!

Happy Saturday All!
Today's post is about 3 words I DON'T LIKE hearing in a physiotherapy consult. In fact, a family member and a neighbour have said recently that they heard these 3 words from their physio. My rage went up!
Three words. "I can't help".
If you're in a consult and you hear these words or similar. eg. there's nothing more I can do and you leave without a plan B, then that's definitely not the truth.
My neighbour went to his doctor after falling off his skateboard with what was suspected a labral tear. This was ruled out with an MRI, his doctor told him it was "inflammation" and that there was nothing more he could do. My unhappy neighbour is still in pain (and still not skateboarding!).
So as physio's, we will have patients with complicated cases present to us. They may not follow the treatment plan swimmingly and you may feel they need another health professional's intervention to parallel yours.
So, even if you're feeling you have exhausted the physio treatment, or your patient might be better off with another review (eg. medication review with a doctor, ortho review etc), then rather than say "I can't help", continue on your proposed treatment plan but suggest they see "in parallel with your treatment". Makes sense?
Then patients aren't left in a situation where they may lose faith in their health professional and their pain, and hence quality of life worsens :(

Hey guys,
A HUGE thank you to all of you who attended "Bridging the Gap" last week!
I can't wait until we present "Bridging the Gap Part 2", once you've all started work and we can put this information into practice!
Now here's what I need from ALL of you (email or PM me):
For newly graduates physiotherapists, what do YOU want to experience more of to increase your confidence in delivering the best service to your patients? (eg. information evenings, day courses, half day courses, 1 on 1 mentoring/shadowing with patients etc). Think outside the box!
For members of the public who have seen, or desire to see a physiotherapist, what do you want to see in your treatment sessions? What are the things you consider important in a consult and treatment plan? What has frustrated you about your physiotherapy experience? (eg. better communication, treatment planning, more/less hands on treatment/exercise).
The more feedback I receive, the more I can help in creating physiotherapy a positive experience for everyone!
Happy New Year guys!
Thanks for the likes and shares. A friend made a great comment the other day..
"Your LMB page is really for physiotherapists only" to which I said "It's absolutely not".
This page is for everyone. The page has been set up to improve private practice healthcare. For those of you who aren't physiotherapists, I need YOU to tell ME how we as healthcare practitioners can improve our service to YOU!
If you have been to see your physiotherapist recently and you were very impressed or very unimpressed, please tell me what you found great or what you would change about the consultation.
All this information will help our future generation of physiotherapists who in turn will help YOU!
So, hit me up with some feedback and questions and let's get 2021 started!
Hi, I'm Lauren! I have been a private physiotherapist for 15 years and a business owner for almost seven. It only took me a few months after graduating to obtain “full books” and I have had a full caseload ever since.
I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Mentor and Leader and can help physio’s to transform the way they communicate in order to break down their “roadblocks” which are inhibiting them from reaching their full potential as a private practitioner.
As physiotherapists, we can attend every physiotherapy course out there but, if we have barriers to effective listening, personal self defeating rules, destructive behaviours, cognitive distortions, fixed mindsets, limiting beliefs and/or no clear personal/work goals, these will all negatively affect our career satisfaction and success.
My WHY for being a physiotherapy mentor/coach is simply this: I have seen too many intelligent physio’s drop out of the profession due to the frustration of incomplete caseloads, not seeing patients return and hence not being able to achieve the best clinical outcomes for their patients. I strive to help young physio’s and those who are making the bold move to private practice, make the most of a lengthy and rewarding career. We live in an age where face-to-face communication is suffering so poor communication, manual therapy skills and soft skills can break that initial consultation, which we know subsequently leads to poor clinical outcomes.
Why me?
• I’ve had consistently full books for 15 years
• I have over 25 years of tutoring and mentoring experience
• My service delivery is specific, personal and face to face, not generic online, social media or website information which can drive disconnection and disengagement
• I’m still “on the tools”, communicating with patients daily
How do I create change?
• Working with physio’s to assist in changing their mindset and uncovering their “roadblocks”, using cognitive behavioural therapy to teach them how to become the “leader” of the consult whilst still empowering the patient
• Motivational Interviewing techniques to drive repeat presentations UP and cancellations DOWN
• Second opinion diagnosis
• Shadowing patient consults
• Treatment mapping – Discussing patients’ diagnoses, prognoses, frequency of treatment and why
• Manual therapy skills assessment and review
Who would benefit from my services?
• New graduates in private practice
• Physio’s who are new to private practice
• Physio’s in private practice who are struggling to maintain their caseloads
• Physio’s in private practice who are unsure of what their boss is asking of them
• Business owners who employ physio’s struggling with their caseloads
• Physio’s who are thinking about making the bold move to private practice
