💸 SHOPIFY THEME OFFER 💸
I'm looking to learn Shopify development and would love to build a theme for real world business! If you can't find something in the Shopify theme store or other sites, I'd love to develop a custom solution for you. I'm offering to build the theme for free for simple themes, or at very low cost for more complex or larger sites. Once the theme has been developed, it's totally up to you if you would like to use it. 🙂
As I am relatively new to Shopify development (I've built sites as a Merchant, but not from the backend before), I'd ask that you are patient with me as I learn and also don't have any solid deadlines to get the site up and running. ⏰

✨CLIENT SHOWCASE✨
My lovely friend Sarah from needed to refresh her website for her rapidly evolving small business and wanted a site that would be easy to use and flexible enough to accomodate her needs right now, and also expansion into the future. Sarah is also a expert, and wanted to integrate her online store with her existing timely stock to manage everything in one spot through Shopify, whilst still maintaining flexibility with design.
The final delivered website is built on WordPress and is hosted on the very user friendly platform for specialised WordPress hosting, security and backups. We integrated the 'Buy Button' sales channel with a Shopify Lite plan to allow for a simplified online store linked to Timely stock, hopefully making Sarah's life easier!
With some one on one support and training at handover, Sarah has been able to take ownership of her site and has expanded and upgraded her store, service offering, and lots more! 👏

Ever been confused why a web designer can't help you with really techy questions, or a developer is baffled by colour choice? That's because they are two different specialities in the internet professional industry! 🖥
🖌 Web designers, well, design web sites - they create mockups and prototypes to see what looks nice and works well from a User Experience (UX) and User Interaction (UI) perspective.
⌨ Web developers use the prototypes developed by designers and build the website using software, code and programming.
It is common for a web professional to have knowledge about both, but we are often more skilled in one. I tend to lean towards design, rather than coding, but I can read, write and fix basic errors in code.

If you didn't already know, I've been a passionate environmentalist for years, so I was really pleased to be able to gift my time to build a new website (www.dawnjecks.com) for the Save Rockingham's Little Penguins campaign this year and support a great cause. 🎁
The previous website was not utilising WordPress to it's full potential and needed new imagery and branding. The new website is fresh, has all the relevant content they need and also the potential to accept donations in the future, or host a blog. 💙

One of my latest projects has been a 'blast' from the past (see what I did there 😉), working with an old work mate from my Kalgoorlie mining days! Goldfeilds Explosives have been hard at work over the last few years to build the business, but sadly their website developed in 2019 had been left behind. They needed a refreshed website to showcase their capabilities, products and services, including the ability for clients to create 'enquiry baskets' for customised quotes.
I'm so pleased with the professional and polished look of the new site, that showcase the services and available products of a fellow business. They have also migrated to a managed wordpress host () to take the worry out of ongoing security, with ongoing maintenance alot easier to manage as well with Flywheel's super easy backend!

Great quality imagery of your project to feature on your website are essential. Smartphone cameras have come along way in the last few years and are now capable of taking hi-res, stunning shots, but to make your website really stand out you should consider:
📸 If applicable to your business, using a drone to capture aerial imagery that shows a different perspective.
📸 Hiring a professional photographer for a shoot of your team in their element at your business premise to get a set of on brand, cohesive images to really make the website and social media sparkle.
📸 Using hi-resolution, good quality images and content on your website that is appropriate for the display resolutions you are using.
📸Consider getting some video shot and edited of your process to create a stunning 'hero' feature on your landing page.
Having access to a range of high quality images really makes a difference when designing and building a website for a client. Not having any imagery, or poor quality images can make a site look amatuerish, boring and dated, so it's really important to get it right! 🎥

WordPress is one of the leading platforms for websites on the internet, but choosing how to build and host a site can be tricky, especially when there are confusing 'official' looking sites that seem to offer the same services? 🤔
Put simply, the two most popular ways to build and host a WordPress site often envolve Wordpress.org OR Wordpress.com:
👩‍💻 WordPress.org is the official site where you can download a copy of the free, opensource Content Management System software that is WordPress. You can then host this copy of WordPress on your own web hosting account or build a custom website locally using the code.
👩‍💻 Many shared web hosting companies offer a 'one-click' installation of WordPress using the code that is available on Wordpress.org via their administation panels (most commonly cPanel).
👩‍💻 Wordpress.com is a web hosting company (Automattic) that hosts websites created with a modified version of WordPress in several tiers based on the customisation you require. This is similar to other shared hosting companies.
👩‍💻 You do not have to host your WordPress website on WordPress.com. I would recommend shopping around for the best WordPress host for your requirements - or ask a professional (like me!).

During late 2021 and into 2022 I was lucky enough to work with the legends at on a revamp of their website (wilsonbrewing.com.au). The brief was to modernise the site by showcasing their dedication to their community and their delicious beers. It was also requested to add more functionality to the site, including the ability to sell their new merch range, add their brew pub menu, functions information and an updated stockist list. 🎶
The final delivered project is a vastly improved site, both on the front end and also behind the scenes, having migrated over to a managed wordpress host () to save hundreds a year in hosting fees and take the worry out of ongoing security and maintenance.
