Before volunteering, you should check that the business or organisation you are volunteering for has a suitable insurance policy that will cover you if an injury occurs.

Can you still claim Workers' Compensation benefits if you're over 65?
Yes. Changes to the Act since 2011 have allowed people 65 and over to access workers’ compensation on the same terms as all other injured workers.
Have you or someone you know copped an injury at work recently?
Here are 5 of the most common mistakes people make after getting injured at work:
❌ Not reporting the injury in writing immediately (text or email is good)
❌ Not disclosing prior workplace injuries
❌ Not reporting all injuries sustained
❌ Ignoring advice from medical professionals
❌ Not getting legal advice

Workers' Comp vs Common Law Claims - What's the Difference?
Workers' Compensation Claims only require there to be an injury caused / contributed to by work duties, whereas a Common Law Claim requires you to prove somebody who had a duty to take care of you (like an employer) failed to do so and that caused you injury/loss or damage etc.
Not sure which fits your situation? Give us a call today!
Thanks for the feedback Gene 👍

Am I covered by workers' comp when travelling to and from work?
Generally, employees are not covered while travelling between home and work, however this will depend on the nature of your job.
If you're injured while travelling under instruction from your employer in the course of your work, for educational purposes, or to attend a place for treatment of a workers' compensation injury, then you may be covered.
Prevention is better than treatment...
If suspect your employer is failing to uphold their duty of care to you as an employee, you can contact WorkSafe WA to report the issue and prevent workplace injuries from occurring later on down the line ✅

If you didn't already know, an anvil is the work surface used by metalworkers to hit objects and tools into shape, mainly with a hammer.
We like to think of our law practise as an anvil for the injured worker; something solid, reliable and capable of withstanding heavy hits without faltering. Something that remains stable and true job after job.
