Tips:

Bake on an unlined oven tray so they crisp up and caramelise.

Place them cut side down and don't crowd the pan.

Bake 'em in a hot 🔥 oven.

How to roast:

Preheat your oven to 220 c.

Drizzle your sprouts with olive oil, salt and pepper then toss to combine.

Place on your tray and bake for approximately 25 mins - but shake the tray a bit half way.

You'll know they're done when they are crispy on the outside, and tender inside.

You can sprinkle with salt if desired but serve immediately!

Pomegranate flavours work well in both sweet and savoury dishes. Use the vibrant seeds to liven up salads, couscous and middle Eastern dishes, drinks and desserts.

De-seeding a pomegranate is actually quite simple - and there are many methods. We think cutting the fruit into the star shape and emptying the seeds over a bowl is the quickest, simplest way to go.

'Silverhill' mandarins are good for lunch boxes and snacks - they are easy to peel, with a thin, smooth rind and attractive, flat shaped, seedless fruit. These mandarins are low in acid so they're really sweet and juicy.

Feijoas are small, green fruits that are also known as the pineapple guava.

They are not so well known here in Perth but once you taste them, you'll be hooked.

Margaret River Fresh Produce has them on special this week.

For $10 a kilo, they'll make a delicious addition to your fruit bowl!

To eat a feijoa, cut (or rip) it in half and scoop out the inside creamy white flesh (a little brownish colour is fine to eat). Feijoas are a good source of vitamin C, fibre and potassium, and they even contain a little protein.

A ripe feijoa will be soft but not squishy. They will ripen a little off the tree so if your fruit is still hard, leave in the fruit bowl and give them a few days to finish ripening.

It's time bake up your veggies!

Simple Tray Ideas - just use your favourite vegetables and add a pop of flavour.

Rosemary Roasted Vegetables. Toss the vegetables with lightly chopped sprigs of rosemary prior to roasting, and top with chopped fresh rosemary over them at the end. (Try this with other herbs too!)

Pesto Roasted Vegetables. Toss the vegetables in your favourite pesto.

Honey Roasted Vegetables. Add 1 tablespoon honey and an extra pinch of salt.

Curry Roasted Vegetables. Season with curry powder and a touch of cumin.

Balsamic Roasted Vegetables. Add 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar prior to roasting.

Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables. Season with oregano and a touch of red wine vinegar. Add sliced olives to the pan. Sprinkle with feta cheese and top with a squeeze of lemon juice prior to serving.

Fun fact: The name “cruciferous” comes from the Latin cruciferae and means “cross bearing,” because the four petals resemble a cross.

Fast, Simple Roasted Vegetable Ideas.

TOP TIP: Use Olive Oil. Oil is necessary for the vegetables to caramelise and if you skimp when you drizzle, your veggies will burn and taste dry.

Spicy Roasted Vegetables. Season with 1/2 teaspoon Krunchilli chilli paste (more if you like super spicy!), or regular chili powder plus cayenne.

Cheesy Roasted Vegetables. Sprinkle the roasted vegetables with freshly grated cheddar, mozzarella, gruyere, or Parmesan cheese. Pop back into the oven for a few minutes to melt.

Garlic Roasted Vegetables. Season by adding a few cloves of thinly sliced garlic to the roasting pan.

Citrus Roasted Vegetables. Add thin lemon slices or orange slices to the pan with the vegetables. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or orange juice.
