Training Returns

Now that the Christmas break is done, it's time to get back into the swing of things. Training recommences next Tuesday, the 9th of January. As we all know, good training leads to flags, so make the effort and come on down

Boys, just another reminder of the upcoming Pink Stumps Day on February 17. All donations greatly appreciated as we head towards our goal.
A guest speaker has been arranged for on the lawn after training 15th Feb. A team will be working on a Ladies Day event to coincide with the day at Fremantle Park.

Pink is the colour we play I am excited to share with you that during this cricket season, I am getting my team together to play in pink to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse. Teams across Australia will be playing in pink, challenging each other to a test of the ages...

The only thing that's B grade about this lineup is the, well, fact that they're playing in B grade. Apart that it's all gravy baby! Brought to you by purveyors of all things that go with gravy, Our Farm Butchery.

This year on February 17, HBCC will take part in our Pink Stumps match. This event will combine with our Ladies Day. A massive congratulations to James Holt and our Moncrieff Realty First Grade team on going back to back. A great reward for the hard work and dedication you have put in so far this season. Soak it all in and focus on doing the double. Thanks to Sportreat & TotaLife Care for their help getting Kim Forrest, James Holt and BJ onto the field on the field. Definitely contributed to the win

Commiserations to Gavin Hampshire and our Sixth Grade team. What a great opportunity for our younger players to gain some finals experience. I'm sure that will go a long way to helping you strive for a two day premiership at the end of the season.

Round 9 Results
A successful weekend for the Swans saw us go 4/5 in a round that everyone played one day matches. That brings an end to the one day fixtures. However, First Grade and Sixth Grade have earned themselves a spot in the grand final being played this Sunday.
Good luck to both sides!
Highlights from the weekend included:
- A powerful captains knock and first century for the club for First Grade skipper James Holt. His innings of 130* from 101 balls included 13 fours and 6 sixes.
- A Cohen Cook masterclass with bat, ball and in the field got Third Grade another win.
- ODB played a thriller! Getting home on the last ball of the match against recent rivals Thornlie.

HOLT MASTERCLASS

Sportreat have been looking after first grade skipper James Holt. The great work from club sponsor Sportreat enabled James to overcome his troublesome thigh and clobber a belligerent 130 not out against Piara Waters.

Ryan Martin and Sam Whitehouse are some big season debutants for HBCC. What's that? Kim Forrest playing ODB? Thornlie better bring some arm and chest guards, high chance of chin music. Brought to you by Our Farm Butchery.

Lobo's Army are looking for a big W this week against Cockburn. With only 3 blokes under 40, Patty won't have to look hard to get some opinions on where the field should be set. Brought to you by the Federal Hotel.

It's a mixture of youth and nuggets in this weeks matchup against Jandakot Park at home. Plenty of in-form cricketers in this team, if I was Jandakot I'd just call a forfeit and enjoy my saturday afternoon at home. Proudly brought to you by AGR Wealth Group.

Sunday Results - Round 8
We backed it up in some more heat on Sunday as four sides took the park. Well done to everyone involved.
Highlights of the day included:
- A Dane Ugle masterclass to guide first grade home, making an unbeaten 69 off 66 balls
- Club legend Jeremy Vlasich taking his first wicket for the club (and second soon after) before a trademark knock producing 42 off 38
- A third consecutive half century for young gun Noah Preston in sixth grade
- A very well deserved half century for Zac Spark in sixth grade
- Sixth grade captain, Gavin Hampshire produced a rapid 60 off 44 which included 10 fours and a six
- Seventh grade captain Patrick Lobo showed he's more than capable with the ball as well, taking 4fa

Saturday Results - Round 7
The start of a hot weekend saw all sides playing one day matches.
Highlights of the day include:
- A heroic Luke Peddie finish in third grade, hitting two sixes to win the game
- Very impressive all round display of talent from our young guys in sixth grade. The future is looking bright for them boys.
- A captains knock of 66 from Patrick Lobo in seventh grade

With a heady mix of age, experience, long term injuries and ointments, seventh grade are back with a bang this Saturday at home. Good chance that J Spence, Z Gane, M Bunce and T Lyons will be hitting their steps targets in the outfield. Sponsored by Federal Hotel.

Are cricket shorts a thing? ODB skipper Mark Beevers doesn't think so and has trained so far this year in 3 different types of boardshorts, *very* small footy shorts and a pair of trousers. Last round we said it might be Henry's summer and then in the middle of a heatwave he becomes (temporary) skipper. Coincidence? I don't think so.
