This is me - a woman who won't stay home when her community has a problem - who loves her community and personally sees full value in everyone's opinions being respected. CJ139-08/22 Proposed Venue Hire Fees and Charges Policy was passed at the Council meeting in May this year. If elected, then I'l work to get this policy reviewed at the November Council Meeting and sent out for public consultation. No parent should have to place one child's sporting needs over another, no seniors should be without their avenues for remaining connected to the community and all of us should have access to what keeps us mentally healthy and strong. Unfortunately due to 6 councillors voting to keep the 25% increase to our kids sporting fees.

But we will not be quiet and we will not give up... The war isn't over , so stayed tuned...

6.30pm on Tuesday Night - We need to send a message to the council to revoke their policy. Otherwise parents fees will rise by 25% on what you paid for your 2023 fees.

Well, you need to attend the council chambers next Tuesday at 6.30pm to help push the no vote.. Parents are doing it tough out there and the extra $160 for 2 kids to play sport a year is not on!

SMS your local councilor and urge them to vote against the new policy.. If you dont show up or SMS you could be liable for the new costs..

AFL Football and cricket on average costs a kid $220 Per Kid. This will now move to $260 Per Kid, Per Sport!! Please support the cause and get involved

Great to see all junior teams get out there... Just a shame that all male and female heads have $40 each hanging over their heads!! Every parent will be forced to pay up to $40 per child , Per Season, Per sport!!!!!!

Please contact your local councillor and get them onboard to stop the charge..

23rd of May we need all members of Junior Sports to attend the council meeting and let our voice be heard that the council should not be charging kids to play sport!!!

We need everyone to get their and support the cause, families are already dropping off because people are struggling. Help save the one thing that helps keep youths of streets and our community together!

One Club has worked out the damage as below .. A Family of 2 kids playing sport would pay an extra $46 for a winter season or for all round $92!!!!! And the clubs arent going to find volunteers because we have been locked out of the rooms!!!

Clubs have been locked out of their own clubrooms!!! Only 2 swipe card per group and allowed to use when they book..

So all the hundreds events that take hours of volunteers time to set-up are now at financial risk..

So below is Copy and Pasted Material from the council , However let met make it clear the parks and leisure team are salt of the earth people and none of this is aimed at them. So they are the messengers in this situation.

In Summary to the below - Sports Clubs were getting charged their fees but the council were subsidizing all Junior sport and now they no longer are from the council.. They have brought down all the rates so that your 1 or 2 hirers who have small classes are on the same playing field as the people who the facilities were actually made for.

Also a brand new lovely Storage Fee has been added on which wasnt there before. So for the privilage of housing your sons footy, soccer, rugby or equipment including is equipment that we use for kids with special needs we now have to pay. In the council literature you will see it estimates $1 a week per member (CHILD) So the councils own documentation is showing around $26 over the season (most sports are 26 weeks as we are seasonal hirers.

Rather than go on emotional rants we are sticking to the facts and finances.. Numbers dont lie at the end of the day. Councilors need to be held account to their decisions on making kids pay extra for Junior Sport.. We are focusing on JUNIOR SPORT and with elections coming up over the next 12 months the Silent Majority will be having a massive say.

What are the changes?
The new Venue Hire Fees and Charges Policy (VHFCP) aims to simplify the fees and charges for venue hire. Under the new policy, hirers are classified into one of three categories, and all venues are charged at an hourly rate based on that category. New charges have also been introduced for floodlighting and storage.

When do the changes come into effect?
The policy and associated fees and charges will come into effect on 1 January 2024.

How will these changes affect me?
The City has completed extensive modelling on how the costs will impact hirers. This modelling was based on 2021 bookings and is an indication only of how each hirer’s fees will change under the new policy.
Based on this modelling, it is expected that your group will be negatively affected by the new policy, meaning you will be required to pay more than you currently pay for venue hire.

How much more will we need to pay?
As a guide, the modelling shows that the most affected hire groups can expect to see an increase in fees that equal an additional $1 per member per week in hire fees.

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

The City Of Joondalup councillors have passed a law now that states from 2024 all Junior and Senior Sporting clubs will now be getting charged to train, play, store equipment and use the facilities.

Increasing fees for all kids sports, even though rates went up by 4% this year and there are more dwellings in the region. While the fee maybe a few dollars per child there is a CPI increase on that per year and now they can charge what they want..
