Guitar Lessons Balcatta
Guitar lessons for adults who love 70’s rock music.
Gary Moore is one of my favourite guitarists and deserves more recognition as one the greats. As a member of Thin Lizzy and his solo albums, he has and is a source of inspiration. Like so many others he passed before his time. Check this video out and see if you agree. The intro is great however he's just warming up for the solo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvu7Y91xUKM
Gary Moore - Red House (Jimi Hendrix Cover) (Fender Stratocaster 50th Anniversary) [HQ] *Rest in peace, Gary Moore... so sad of a day... your guitar stays with us, and you shall live trough it. Farewell...* † Gary Moore was found dead in Februar...
The Comfortably Numb solo by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is arguably one of the greatest rock guitar solos of all time and one of my personal favourites. I have heard different bands do great covers of this song and in particular the famous second solo. This one by an awesome band called, The Main Squeeze, has to be my favourite. Max Newman (the guitarist) pays homage to David in the first solo however in the second solo he makes it his own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIPDvkh_r00

Rock Concerts Then & Now
Those who attended rock concerts in the past were mainly bouncing up and down, hands in the air, singing or screaming along to their favourite songs.
Those who attend rock concerts these days miss out on a lot of this by spending too much time recording video footage on their phones.
The problems with this are: You are not focusing on the moment, and you are not having fun bouncing. You are focusing on recording video footage.
You are not focusing on the energy of the band or the audience.
You are not enjoying the show in the moment, you are enjoying it through your phone.
You are not having as much fun as you could be having.
You are changing the vibe and energy of the show.
The alternative, which I thought was awesome, is the video I have attached to this post.
It’s the Darkness playing, “I believe in a Thing called love” where the singer (Justin Hawkins), due to the number of people just standing with phones in hand, stopped the song halfway through.
He then requested one person to video it, post it online for all to enjoy, and everyone else to put their phones away and bounce instead. The results are hilarious and awesome. This is what a concert should be like. Check it out at the following link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJKnl3Qlaso

Different categories of songs
1 You hear the song for the first time, you love it straight away, and a week later you never want to hear it again.
2 You hear a song for the first time, you don’t like it, you keep hearing it around the place and after about 4 or 5 times it starts to grow on you.
3 You hear a song, you don’t like it and it never grows on you.
4 You hear a song that is not a genre of music that you normally listen to like country, metal, or jazz, you like it even though you are not even sure why you like it.
5 You hear a song for the first time, you like it straight away, and no matter how many times you listen, it never seems to get old. This is my favourite category.
What is it about the song that makes it a category 5?
Is it the melody, the lyrics, the cool guitar riff, the beat, the mysterious X factor that you can’t really explain, or the good time memory that is associated with it? A combination of all of these?
Whatever it is, there seems to be an element of mystery attached to music, otherwise, there would be a formula for writing a category 5 song. You could have certain guidelines that may contribute to it becoming a category four like making it three minutes long or making it catchy however there are no guarantees that this will achieve the desired result.
As much as you may analyse this or ponder on it, one of the most intriguing elements about music is its mystery, why does it have such a profound effect?
