Have been volunteering at Orange Sky for a few months.

What is Orange Sky? They provide vans AUSTRALIA wide with laundry washers and dryers.
So the homeless and destitute can bring their laundry to be washed and dried. When I told my wife I was doing this volunteer work, she gave me a wry smile as I do not do any laundry at home. I still got her blessing.

This van is at Vic Park Community Centre on Mondays. There is also food served at the Centre by the St Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church which is based at E Vic Park. They get 40 to 50 destitute guests each Mon and I enjoy helping them serve dinner to their guests. The Coptic church does a great job and their junior volunteers are great.

Which reminds me. I need to raise more funds for the homeless in the CEO Sleepout.

Do help me help more homeless. Go to https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/raymond-tan-tan-and-tan-lawyers/wa

Dear friends and supporters

It is Mon morning and I can say after a golf game at Kwinanna Golf Club on Sunday, I have finally settled in from my homeless sleepout on Thursday night.

It was a cold night but, I managed to find a dry place to set up for the night. I did take a tour of Optus Stadium to places we were not supposed to see and the security guards came looking for us. I was only acting as a homeless person looking for the best place to sleep for the night 😊

I want to thank all my sponsors for 2022.

Out of 105 CEOs in Perth, I was ranked 3rd and, we raised $868,349. I raised a total of $46.033, which is the highest I have raised in 13 years. Thank you, thank you from my heart.

I was ranked No. 14 out of 1479 CEOs in Australia where we raised a total of $9.2 M. All for Vinnies to help the homeless.

No easy feat from a small business owner as mentioned by my sister Rinda to her friends having come from a poor family myself.

However, all this is because of the generosity of all of you who have supported me. So many have done it for 13 years. I always say, I am humbled by your feelings and caring for the homeless.

Until I sleep out again as a homeless lawyer in 2023, thank you from the deepest bottom of my heart.

TONIGHT , I SLEEP AS A HOMELESS LAWYER

Dear friends and supporters

Yes, it is 156 am Thursday 23/6/2022 now.

I am still working from the comfort of my home with the heater on.

However, tonight, I will be sleeping as a homeless lawyer. It is just for 1 night bearing in mind how the homeless do it for months or years.

I am so blessed with the kind and generous support I received from all of you.

To date, I have raised $35,022 and am ranked no. 4 out of 105 CEOs in WA.

WA has raised $739,000 to date with a target of $800,000.

I am ranked no. 19 out of 1479 CEOs Australia wide.
Australia wide, we have raised $7.3M so far.

So, I am a sole owner of a small law firm challenging the big CEOs and proving that clients and friends in WA are generous in spirit with their hearts in the right place for the homeless.

I am humbled with your generosity as I have said many times.

This, is one final push to raise as much for the homeless as I can with your kind support.

Please reach into your wallets with your credit card for a tax deductible donation.

Homeless problem growing in WA with rising home prices and inflation

10 Asian CEOs trying to make a difference by raising funds in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2022

About 9000 people are homeless in WA currently according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics Census.

More and more West Australians struggle to find accommodation in a very difficult rental market.

The Covid 19 situation has made the homelessness problem even harsher.

Tent cities of homeless persons have been found in Fremantle and East Perth even up till last year. The WA government is trying to deal with the homeless issue but there is much that needs to be done to relieve the agony of the homeless in WA.

St Vinnies De Paul have been organising the CEO Sleepout for 13 years. Funds raised are used to help the Australian homeless. This is an Australian wide event with 1428 CEOs Australia wide registered to take part.

Western Australia has 112 CEOs registered to date having raised $212,408 with a target of raising $800,000 just for Western Australia.

The event is taking place on 23 June 2022. The CEOs will be sleeping out at Optus Stadium.

For the 13th year, Raymond Tan will be sleeping out as a homeless lawyer to raise funds for the CEO Sleepout.

Hon Member of the WA Legislative Council Pierre Yang will be joining Raymond again this year for the 6th year.

Matthew Pham of Lakeside Fresh IGA has also taken part for his 6th year.

Neville Lin, Associate Director of SW Accountants and Advisers has also put up his hand for the 2nd year to help the homeless.

This year has the largest number of Asian CEOs raising their hands up to raise funds for the homeless by sleeping out in the cold on one of the coldest nights of the year.

The Asian CEOs taking part for the first time include:

1. Karen Ho, Director General of Dept of Training and Workforce Development.
2. Howard Ong CEO of Aurora Consulting Pty Ltd.
3. Louis Pang of Edsys Computers.
4. Raymond Ting of CCR Asset Management Company.
5. Father Thai Vu, Parish Priest at Saint John and Paul.
6. Liya Xu of Suida International on Oxford Pty Ltd.

They will be participating in their first CEO Sleepout and helping to raise awareness of the homeless problem to the wider Asian community.

The 10 Asian CEOs have put up their hands and decided to take part in this important event that will help many homeless persons who are assisted by Vinnies.

Please help them to raise as much funds as possible to help the homeless in WA.

The event is on 23 June 2021. However, you can donate to the CEOs before or after the event.

Just go to any of the CEO’s link below and donate any amount you wish. Every cent counts.

Dear friends and supporters

I have been working with Peter and Fiona Clements re their charity which has a home at Claremont that is being used by families who are avoiding homelessness.
https://www.findyourfeetfoundation.com.au/copy-of-stories

I managed to persuade them to take part in this year’s Sleepout. Are they in for a shock to their comfortable lifestyle.

They have been investigating how instead of helping just 1 family each time, they can extend their charity work.

I organised a meeting with Carl and Chrissie from Vinnies yesterday.

We met at Tom Fisher House.

https://www.vinnies.org.au/page/Find_Help/WA/Homeless_Mental_Health_Services/Tom_Fisher_House/

I have always been impressed with the work Vinnies does and today was another eye opener.

We also visited Passages, a project to help combat youth homelessness.
https://www.passages.org.au/

The good work that Vinnies does just make me want to help them raise as much funds as possible every year when I sleep out as a homeless lawyer.

I have raised $14,595 todate thanks to my supporters. Many have sponsored me every year for the last 13 years. Thank you from my heart.

Do help me to raise more so that Vinnies can help more unfortunate people.

Dear friends,

Yes, it is happening tonight. It is now 1 am in the morning Thurs. Tonight I will be sleeping as a homeless lawyer.

The temperature in Perth has plummeted recently. Have you tried walking in the night or early morning? We are facing 4-6 degrees.

How do the homeless deal with the cold? I am talking about parents and their children who may be sleeping in their cars. Older ladies or men whose partners have died leaving them with limited assets or resources and facing homelessness.

Tonight I will be doing the sleepout at Optus Stadium. I know it is not anything like how the real homeless deal with sleeping in the open.

I have raised $39,199 to date which is the highest amount I have ever raised in 12 years. That beats the $36,630 I raised in 2017.

I have been so grateful to all my friends who have sponsored me already. Every cent counts no matter how small or large the donation. It’s the fact that you have all looked into your heart and decided to help those who need help. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart even if your name is not mentioned below.

Special thanks and mention to the following friends:

1. Frank Liang from Emma Seafood who has made the biggest donation every year for the last 12 years.
2. David Meese from Abbots Industries: David tried the sleepout for 1 year but decided it was easier to sponsor me.
3. Denning Chong from James Chong Lawyers: My fellow lawyer who also help the homeless at Manna Inc. Another fellow lawyer with a heart.
4. Galvin from Galvin Engineering: Galvin took part in the Sleepout for 8 years but has decided to sponsor me this year as he was not able to take part.
5. Bob Bollen from Benz Industries: Bob took part for 10 years and also decided to sponsor me as he was not able to take part.
6. The Rocks Ministry: Daniel and his flock has sponsored me every year. God bless them.
7. Henry Pua: Another golfing mate who has sponsored me every year since the first time I asked for help. May he get another hole in one.
8. Susan Zhang: My golfing friend who always has her heart at the right place. Does she need a 4th hole in one?
9. Yuan Wah and TK: Husband and wife with their hearts in the right place, sponsoring me yet again this year.
10. Jeff Miles, my biz doc: Jess has also sponsored me every year for 12 years. Thanks Jeff and Katerina.
11. Dr HO: All the way from Singapore. Thanks for another year of your generosity.
12. The Shims: Again, they have decided to help WA homeless even though they live in Brunei.
13. Gerhard and Carol from Coffee Club: Thanks for doing this every year. May the new café prosper so you can make an even bigger donation.
14. Grace Assembly Church: Brother Stewart and his flock have also helped each year. Thanks.
15. 3 anonymous large donations. You know who you are. Thanks.
Many of you have sponsored me every year and my heart is humbled.

I will do the sleepout tonight knowing that I have friends who have a heart and who know it is better to help than need help.

Any last minute donation can still be done.
