TABOR AT THE TABLE
We have a number of students who are finishing their degrees with us at the end of this semester, and before we are all too in the swing of holidays, we would like to say, “See you later!” Join us for a lunch provided by staff, to farewell and have great company and food.
All the best with your final assessments! Reach out if you need help and support 🗣 There are always options for extra time and support if you need them - so don't struggle alone. You can seek:
✨ Grace Extension (a 2 weeks automatic extension for every student)
✨ Special Circumstances Extension (for longer extensions)
✨ Incomplete Status (another semester to complete your subject)

Today, 26 May is National Sorry Day. It is a day to lament the mistreatment of the Stolen Generation, and a day to consider how we might be part of healing this country.
“We cannot begin to fix the problems of the present without accepting the truth of our history.” (Reconciliation Australia, 2020)
How can you be part of the change?
At Tabor, we have a developing Reconciliation Action Committee. Contact us for more info 🤳
Today on National Sorry Day, we remember and lament the injustice of the Stolen Generations. We pray for the children and families of the Stolen Generations and the New Stolen Generation and commit to deep listening and truth-telling.
Today may we reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for Aboriginal peoples and for justice in these lands now called Australia.
National Sorry Day came from one of the recommendations from the Bringing them Home Report released in 1997. Would you take time today to read the experiences of members of the Stolen Generations in the Bringing Them Home Report: https://humanrights.gov.au/our-work/bringing-them-home-report-1997
As we reflect on the past injustices against Aboriginal children, may we be compelled to stand against injustices facing our children today. Take action to by writing a letter to your State/Territory Premier and Attorney General, template letter here: www.commongrace.org.au/letter_raisetheage
Humans of Tabor: Rugare!

To kick off this week we would like to share this quote from Max Lucado:
‘’Forgiveness is unlocking the door to set
someone free and realising you were the prisoner.’’
TABOR.
MEANINGFUL CAREERS. MEANINGFUL LIVES.
There’s just something about the Tabor community, and something about good chats on the grass in the autumn sun.
Humans of Tabor Part 7: Kell
Kell is one of our Counselling students here at Tabor. She was once nominated for Australian of the Year, rescued two golden retrievers, and loves singing REALLY loud in the car! Watch to learn more.
Counselling courses - Tabor College As a caring and empathetic person, you may have found that people open up when they need to talk. Professional counselling is a little different.
Thinking of change?
This beautiful tree on our Perth campus reminds us how life has its seasons - seasons of great beauty and seasons for change! Each season has its purpose, its joys, beauty and its challenges.
If you’re thinking about a change, or thinking about something new - why not think about a meaningful career that impacts the world? Our degrees in and (which we think are pretty amazing!) might interest you. (And so might our beautiful campus!)
If this intrigues you, come and have a chat.
We are SO grateful to have had our CEO, Johan Roux (flanked by our Supervisor and Dean, Phil Daughtry) come and visit our amazing Perth Campus. We enjoyed workshopping the Strengths and Weaknesses of our campus, as well as a meaningful and insightful enneagram workshop. Thanks for being such an encouragement to us!
This week on Humans of Tabor: Lachlan Savill.
Lachlan recently joined our team as the Undergraduate Counselling Coordinator for Perth. He brings to us a wealth of experience in counselling practice, but also a wealth of laughter and quick quips!

“I raised my fist in anger along with the crowd. “Crucify him!” I heard come from my mouth. All around me there were fists being shaken and words yelled, forming a chorus of “Crucify him!” Then I looked at him, bleeding and bloody from being whipped, standing next to the governor. And I caught his eye. His swollen, bruised eye. He looked directly at me, and I saw nothing in his eyes but these words: “I love you still. I always will.” Immediately I felt shame come over me like a hot flame. Seeing his love for me in my anger, betrayal and judgement, I could no longer hold my fist up. I could no longer stand. I fell to my knees and my eyes poured out what was in my heart. I am loved by him, even though I betrayed him.”
May you know how deep the love of Jesus is for you this Good Friday. This is why Good Friday is Good. Because Jesus is good. And God is good.
Humans of Tabor part 4: June Stankowski
June has worked with Tabor for … years, and is our Postgraduate co-ordinator for Counselling in Perth. We love your authenticity and your caring heart for everyone!

This semester we are meeting fortnightly for something we are calling “Koinonia.” What’s that? Koinonia is about community, about spirituality, sharing of stories, and a place for contemplation of faith. Last week we had the pleasure of hearing part of Kelly’s story as she shared about learning the value of broken glass, and it’s analogy for our broken selves.
Oh dear. He’s at it again (there’s no question this time). Who wore it better?
We are beginning a new series called "Humans of Tabor." Every Wednesday we will share a video or photo of one of our staff and student community.
This week, it is one of our recent graduates - Chelsea - who shares what she loved about studying with Tabor.
