The team pick the berries via their stems so as not to touch or bruise the berry - you can see the stalks in the photo. Now that’s ’taking care’.
Anthony collects strawberries from Paul’s son Phil in Perth early on Thursdays and Fridays - often they’ve arrived from farms overnight.

One of the most talked about items on our stand at Farmer on Your Plate last Saturday was Scamorza cheese samples we were handing out. 🧀
Scamorza is a stretched curd cheese hailing from Southern Italy. It’s made here in Perth using W.A. milk by Dom and his team in Vic Park. It’s a mozzarella style cheese which is left to mature in its whey for several hours to allow flavours to develop, then hung to dry.
It’s impossible to have just one piece - I can personally testify to that!
Serve sliced or cut into cubes on a grazing board with charcuterie and more, or nibble on from the fridge (I’ve made toasties with it and used it as a melting cheese too but traditionally it’s eaten as is).
We receive a fresh delivery every Wednesday for our customer orders which are delivered on Thursday and Friday 🙌🏻 Fresh made simple!

So many amazing people in one room! The largest and most diverse showcase of WA food and beverage businesses gathered with around 600 guests at Crown Perth today. The team did an incredible job, pulling this fantastic event for food industry professionals together.
It was colourful and bright, the atmosphere was lively and everywhere I looked people were connecting. Such a great feeling to be with others who are also passionate about West Australian food growers and makers.
I caught up with a lot of our suppliers, many who have become friends over the years and met new people too. I left with a croaky voice 😆 and a feeling of pride that we are working in a great part of the world where there are still such great opportunities to be had.

Perhaps you don’t know, but 27 years ago next month I started running cooking classes from my home kitchen in Bicton.
I was concerned as a professional chef with a young family, that many people were missing out on nutrition and flavour in their food as there was no education available about when produce was at its peak in WA.
The first by-line MOT had was ‘Cooking for Four Seasons’ and I designed classes to inspire and teach home cooks all I knew as a professional.
In 2024 I still cook and eat by these principles; our by-line today is ‘Fresh Made Simple’. It seems simple; embracing the local produce that hasn’t travelled from interstate and overseas (so many benefits which I’ll list in a post soon) and eating well.
Today everyone can search the internet where all the information that was missing when I started my business, can now be found.
However (as a generalisation), society has outsourced learning about personal health to ‘experts’ online. This is where diet and what we should be eating is becoming confusing and overwhelming. There is so much conflicting advice!
I believe we need to listen to our own bodies, be aware of what we are consuming to understand the effects on our wellbeing. Individual health is nuanced and the feeling of being responsible for our choices on what we consume can actually feel great. Balance is the key. Don’t overload yourself with food that doesn’t serve you, and on the other hand don’t restrict yourself so much that pleasure in food disappears.
The participant conversations (which are as important as the cooking education) in my classes today are proving that we are taking back control, becoming curious about what we’ve been led to believe about food and health in the past, and dissecting what is believable and relevant to us as individuals.
I feel proud we can have these types of discussions around my kitchen bench - thought provoking and empowering. Thanks to everyone who came along yesterday and for the part each and every person played in making the classes fun and so very worthwhile.
