On the shelf … this week. A beautiful collection of French luxury for your {Cuisine} Kitchen 🍽️

The on trend colour this season is Olive ... so we are loving the stunning new La Rochere Olive Ouessant Tumblers.

We love the complimentary Rust colour of these beautiful French Flax Linen Napkins and of course we often like to take left cooking smells away, so our Empress Golden Rose hand poured soy candle is perfect for this!

Have you ever visited Châteaux de Malmaison? It is a fraction of it’s original 780 hectares, however, Joséphine endeavored to transform the large estate into “the most beautiful and curious garden in Europe, a model of good cultivation”. She located rare and exotic plants🌿 and animals 🦘 to enhance the gardens. Joséphine wrote: “I wish that Malmaison may soon become the source of riches for all [of France].” In 1800, she built a heated orangery large enough for 300 pineapple plants🍍
Five years later, she ordered the building of a greenhouse, heated by a dozen coal-burning stoves. From 1803 until her death in 1814, Josephine cultivated nearly 200 new plants in France for the first time 🌹🌴 📸

At this time of year in Paris, Peony Season is in full swing and most markets boast bucketloads of beautiful Peony stems in a myriad of beautiful colours, from soft pastel pinks to vibrant scarlet stems to delight the visual senses.

As we know, the Empress Joséphine was a passionate admirer of exotic plants and animals, and it is believed she introduced peonies to her garden at the Château de Malmaison in the early 1800s.

Joyeux anniversaire Joséphine 🥂🎂🌹

Born on this day in 1763 at Les Trois-Îlets, Martinique, by the birthname of Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie.

Joséphine Bonaparte, Empress of the French as the first wife of Emperor Napoleon I from 18 May 1804 until their marriage was annulled on 10 January 1810.

Napoleon was the first to refer to Marie Josèphe as Josèphine

As Napoleon's consort, she was also Queen of Italy from 26 May 1805 until the 1810 annulment.
