Who are The Butter People? Well, we are a flavour company. We are passionate people who enjoy the experience of eating delicious tasting food. And we do this by producing exceptional, multi-award winning WA artisan butter. We've been around since 2017 and started because our Founder, Kylie, wanted to see a change in the market - a WA produced butter using pure cream that tasted absolutely delicious. Whereby the pasture that the cows eat, the ingredients, the production skills, and the manufacturing process all matter. Butter is such a key ingredient and gives a flavour explosion when used in any dish - everything tastes better with great butter. Do you agree? 🧈

🐣 Here’s our Top 10 list for Hot Cross Buns this Easter:

1. True love is someone surprising you with a hot cross bun straight out of the oven.
2. Cinnamon, spices and the unmistakable scent of fresh baked goods is one of the most glorious smells on earth.
3. The bottom half of the bun is better than the top half.
4. If you can’t see teeth marks in your butter then you haven’t used enough.
5. Salted butter, always.
6. You need more butter than you think: it has to seep into the dough and lavishly contrast with the texture of the bun.

😋 Amazing Butter Chicken Recipe from our Friends in Food, Turban Chopsticks!

If you're looking for a traditional butter chicken recipe or perhaps even a Meat-Free-Monday, this curry paste from is sure to impress!

INGREDIENTS:
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Serves 6-8
🍛 1 jar Butter Chicken Curry Paste
🍗 1 kg of chicken, plant- based protein or vegetables
🍅 1 can (400ml) diced tomatoes
🥥 1 cup of fresh thickened cream or coconut cream
🍅 1 tbsp tomato paste
🧈 1 tbsp of butter (*go on, add some more 😋)
🍚 1 cup of rice
🍀 Fresh coriander
🥜 Whole nuts to garnish

CURRY RECIPE:
1. Sauté protein or vegetables along with the paste until golden brown.
2. Add tomatoes, cream, tomato paste and butter and cook over medium heat for further 20 minutes until ingredients are cooked, tender and sauce thickened.
3. Garnish with fresh coriander and handfuls of whole nuts.
4. Serve hot over steamed rice or with some tasty garlicky naan bread.

OPTIONAL:
🥘 Add fresh garlic, fresh ginger, and fresh coriander for more deliciousness.
💪 Replace rice with quinoa for extra protein.
😋 Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar at the end to increase acidity and give that extra *wow factor*.

HISTORY of The Herdsman Market:

🌱 (1979) THE BEGINNING: In 1979, a simple market shed known as The Herdsman Growers Market opened its doors. With a focus on quality above all else, it quickly built a loyal customer base and a sterling reputation for sourcing the West Coast’s finest produce.

🍎 (1987) "THE FUSSIEST MAN IN PRODUCE" Leo Pullella opened his own store "Mr Fresh Carine" with his wife, Tina in 1987. Leo would scour Perth’s central produce markets and local growers to hand-select only the finest produce for his store. This unrelenting focus and precision were also applied to how each variety of fruits and vegetables were presented. The trust his customers placed in him to feed their families was an honour he considered sacred.

🤝 (2018) A NEW CHAPTER: Ownership of The Herdsman changes hands. Leo Pullella always said: “The Herdsman is one of the best stores I have ever seen, if the opportunity ever comes grab it”. And in 2018 that opportunity came up. Leo's son, Anthony, and son-in-law, Mark, took over The Herdsman Market to continue Leo's vision. They have since grown the Herdsman beyond expectations, renovating & redesigning the store, and collecting numerous industry awards along the way.
