🇮🇳 Recently, our Spine Surgeon Dr Paul Taylor was honoured to be included amongst a small group of internationally recognised overseas faculty alongside India's 'best of the best' to give lectures and undertake live surgery demonstrations to around 400 Spine Surgeons from India and overseas nations. 🇮🇳

Conference highlights:
✅ 35 Spine surgeries were demonstrated from the simple to the very complex
✅ Dr. Taylor was asked to demonstrate the only anterior thoracolumbar Spine surgeries undertaken at the conference given his well-recognised experience and expertise with these minimally invasive Spine surgical procedures.

Dr Taylor shared, "It was a wonderful experience to be part of the 'world's best' demonstrating their particular technique and I was privileged to be asked to be included a second time. It was a very busy, hectic and full program all fitting into a four-day trip but very rewarding and enjoyable. The organisers did an incredible job and the food was great!"

⭐ Meet the team, Monday! Meet one of our Physicians, Dr. Sam Tayeb ⭐

After completing his MBBS at Flinders University in 2004, Dr Sam Tayeb attained his Fellowship in Cardiology from Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2011.

During his career, Sam developed a strong passion for acute and perioperative medicine. Recognising the importance of comprehensive patient care, he pursued a Masters in Perioperative Medicine from Monash University, completing this in 2022. This additional qualification allows him to provide specialised care to patients throughout their entire surgical journey, ensuring optimal outcomes and reducing post-operative complications.

Most recently, Sam worked in Darwin where he travelled extensively to provide outreach Cardiology and General Medicine services to regional and remote communities. He worked at The Royal Darwin and Darwin Private Hospitals in Cardiology, Perioperative Medicine, and General Medicine.

Sam is dedicated to empowering his patients to take control of their health and maximise their health span. He firmly believes in shared decision-making, where patients’ priorities and the latest scientific evidence guide the therapeutic relationship. Sam ensures that each patient receives personalised attention and care, tailoring treatment plans to suit their individual needs and preferences.

I graduated from Manipal University (MAHE) in India in 2019 and am originally from Kenya. My career began at an outpatient clinic in Nairobi, where I honed my skills in managing sports injuries, neurological rehabilitation, and developing strength and conditioning programs for athletes. 📣

I enjoy working with and can care well for our neurospinal patients because of my extensive history with pre- and post-operative orthopedic clients, prescribing tailored exercise programs, overseeing physical rehabilitation, and recommending specialised equipment, including personalized falls prevention strategies. My professional interests also extend to managing patients experiencing back, neck, shoulder, hip, and knee pain. 📣

Outside of work, I enjoy camping, exploring walking/hiking trails, and swimming.

Audrey completed her PhD in 2017 at The University of Western Australia, where she focused on receptor trafficking in bone biology. She then moved to Melbourne and worked briefly at St. Vincent’s Institute for Medical Research before joining the Centre for Muscle Research at The University of Melbourne as a Research Support Officer and Research Fellow. Here, her research focused on understanding the complexities of interorgan bone-muscle crosstalk. She has now moved back to Perth where she is keen to apply her experiences and knowledge of the musculoskeletal system to improve the quality of life in health, disease and ageing. ⭐

In his commercial roles as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary, James has managed the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements, whilst applying his skills in achieving improvements in procurement and the recruitment and training of professional staff.

Neurospine Foundation is thrilled to be the first commercial user of the new genomic platform technology at Edith Cowan University's lab.
This innovative Thermo Fisher Scientific GeneTitanTM platform allows our research team to genotype samples and explore diverse sample types within our research projects.

Professor Simon Laws, Director of the Centre for Precision Health, mentioned that this platform will revolutionise research capabilities, eliminating the need for third-party providers.

For Neurospine Foundation, this advancement will significantly enhance our understanding of the role genetics play in neurospinal disease.
