*What's an APC?
Australasian Permaculture Convergences are held about every 2 years, generally in a non-International Permaculture Convergence year. It's a gathering of permies from across Australasia; often including some from New Zealand, Timor Leste and more.
They usually start with an event open to the public to raise awareness of permaculture, followed by a 3-day, morning-to-night conference style event with several streams of talks occurring simultaneously. Generally there's some form of entertainment in the evening, whether that be a film, musical items, hilarious quiz shows etc.
Convergences are fantastic events where you'll get to hang out with permie heroes from all over Australia, attend excellent presentations and panel discussions, eat amazing food, and generally just have a great time with your tribe.
In addition, there are usually courses (eg PDCs, Permie teacher training, advanced design) offered before and/or after the event, so it could be that once in a lifetime opportunity to share in the wisdom of highly respected permie teachers. Also there are usually post-convergence tours of interesting properties and places that you might not otherwise be able to access.
I've attended 3 APCs and highly recommend them.

Have you read David Brown’s paper on our website yet?
This paper is the first in what we hope will be a new PermacultureWest project: To publish various papers on timeless permaculture topics written with a philosophical perspective as ‘thoughts for discussion’.
We welcome respectful, rational and factual discussion on the paper, whether in agreement or not.
We also welcome proposals for papers on other timeless topics. Note that papers of just a few pages are fine – you don’t have to write a small book as David has done.
The Importance of Animals in Permaculture Systems and Permaculture Diets, Including a Discussion on Veganism - PermacultureWest by David Brown No topic is more central to permaculture than this one, especially when we consider the two aspects of system and diet. After discussing Earth Health, Permaculture as a Hunter-Gatherer System, and Human Health, David presents his Conclusions.…
Remembering Ross Mars
Beneath the shade of the beautiful mulberry tree at EarthWise in Subiaco, we gathered to remember Ross Mars, 1 month and 1 day after his passing.
There was considerable laughter as people shared how and when they met him, and how, fairly often it seemed, their time with him had changed the course of their life in one way or another.
It was heartwarming to see connections being made, as so often happens in Perth. The 'Oh, you work with so-and-so, I know them from such-and-such! Tell them I said hello!'
Thankyou Ross, still bringing people together and building community.
.. and there was considerable cake, including carrot.
