Finally a common sense approach to al fresco fees from the City of Perth!

ALFRESCO REFORM!

Since 2015 I have been campaigning for reform to Alfresco License fees. I'm so proud to advise that at Tuesday's Council meeting we will be debating a motion to radically transform Outdoor Dining throughout the City.

A quick summary of proposals:
- Reduction of fees from $80-$150 a square metre down to $40
- Allowing food & beverages to be prepared in the alfresco area
- Allowing service of pre-packaged food
- Increasing the size of the spaces available
- Allowing alcohol to be consumed by patrons while standing up
- Licenses to be granted for up to 3 years rather than annually
- Introducing a payment plan instead of fees being paid upfront

I personally support complete abolition of the square metre fees, but we've been able to negotiate a significant reduction. I will continue to push for these fees to be set at $0.

I call on my Council colleagues to support this essential reform!
