Pavane - Gabriel Fauré

The Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50, is a short work by the French composer Gabriel Fauré written in 1887. Originally a piano piece, it's better known in Fauré's version for orchestra and optional chorus. The work is titled after the slow processional Spanish court dance of the same name.

A massive thank you to all our friends, family and supporters of PUCS and the Barnabas Singers who had come to our sold out Light in the Sky concert on Saturday! The show of support was immense and it was amazing to share the music of Ola Gjeilo with all of you!

Our biggest thanks to our guest musicians: the Darlington String Quartet (Darlington Concerts), our string orchestra, soloist Sophie Hamer, and pianist Glenn Hogue, and to our accompanist Claire Dodd for helping us through the rehearsal season.

To both the PUCS and Barnabas Singers committees and our conductor Sarah Mills Menogue for the immense behind-the-scenes work to make this collaboration a success.

And a special acknowledgement to the UWA Conservatorium of Music for their ongoing support, to AICSA (Australian Intervarsity Choral Societies Association) for their assistance via the Australian Cultural Fund, and to everyone who have helped PUCS and the Barnabas Singers along the way.
