Every renter knows what it’s like to feel powerless in their own home.
This is why the Greens will establish the National Renters Protection Authority (NRPA).
This new renters watchdog will have the power to enforce stronger rental standards and rent caps, and fines of up to $15,650 for dodgy landlords or $78,250 for real estate agencies.
This is just the start.
Property developers have massive political power over the major parties.
But in a system stacked against renters, the NRPA is dedicated to making sure that renters around the country can trust that there’s someone in their corner ready to advise, advocate and fight for them.

WA's EPA has labelled Woodside's Browse project "unacceptable". It is time for the WA Labor Government to read the writing on the wall and step away from its unconditional support for the gas lobby.
Greens MP Dr Brad Pettitt MLC says, "It is misleading for the Premier to say that Browse will be an important part of WA’s domestic gas supply and near-term energy security because it won’t even come online until at least 2032 or even later."

The cost of living is through the roof, landlords and property management companies are squeezing renters, the effects of the climate crisis are being felt all across the state. But a better future is possible!
We're launching our plan to win in Fremantle, so come along if you’re a member, a volunteer or just someone who is Greens-curious.
📣 Sky News and Gina Rinehart must apologise for their transphobia! 📣
Sign the petition 👉 https://bit.ly/Apologise4Transphobia
Earlier this month, Sky targeted teachers at St Hilda’s Anglican Girls School in Perth, just for existing as transgender people. This hateful and harmful kind of reporting needs to stop.
Going after school teachers should be called out for what it is: needless bullying.
Sign the community petition calling on Sky and Gina to apologise, and to show the trans and gender diverse community in Perth that we will not stand for hate.
Image ID: A tearaway headline reads “Sky News criticised over a report targeting a Perth teacher who is transgender”, with bylines “6 June 2024” and “OutinPerth”. All-caps text below reads “Gina Rinehart & Sky News must apologise for their transphobia! Sign the petition. 🔗 bit.ly/Apologise4Transphobia”. End ID.
We all know that the cost of housing is a bit cooked in WA right now. With a State and Federal election coming up, though, we have a chance to get more Greens elected and change things for the better - for all of us.
Join us on Saturday 29th June for a morning of doorknocking, where we’ll be chatting to people in Freo about how the housing crisis is affecting them. Sign up now! Visit: bit.ly/3XvXoOM

WA Community Services Minister Sabine Winton says she values the work of community services organisations. Why, then, has WA Labor provided no additional funding to those on the front line of the cost of living crisis, at a time when their services are more in demand than ever?
The only way to get the government to properly fund essential services and tackle the cost of living crisis is to vote for people who will fight for it. Help us do just that! Visit bit.ly/4d39gNH
If you're heading to the Palestine vs Socceroos match Tuesday, join us for a pre-game get together.
We'll have some tunes, snacks, and face paint to set the vibes before you head over to HBF stadium 🍉⚽️
We have already knocked on over 1300 doors in Perth, and we're just getting started!
We have been so lucky to welcome a whole bunch of great new people to our volunteer team, so we want to take a breather from the doorknocks for an evening and give you all a chance to meet each other in a more laid back social setting.
Join us for a low key catch up next week! RSVP at: https://bit.ly/4bMlkSs
Elders, Traditional Owners and First Nations voices hold and can share their rich culture, stories and traditional knowledge.
We must hear and respect them to heal and have real reconciliation.
Now more than ever.
Patrick Gorman and Labor have had ample opportunity to choose the right side of history and denounce Israel's war crimes against the Palestinian people. This morning, The Greens asked Parliament to recognise the state of Palestine - Labor blocked this motion.
If you're as disappointed by Labor as we are, join Sophie Greer - The Greens at one of our upcoming campaign events to help us win Perth. Together we can fight to put Australia on the right side of history. Learn more at https://greens.org.au/events/wa
With 14 out of the 19 Closing the Gap targets not being met, we need to use our collective power and demand Labor do more and ask why we should accept this for mob.
Australia needs to do better.
Now more than ever.
This week is Reconciliation Week. Now More Than Ever, reconciliation requires yarning, listening and respecting First Nation voices and ways.
First Nations people have cared for our lands and eco systems for over 65,000 years.
They must lead and learn us on their ways, knowledge systems, oral histories, laws, protocols and connections to the land.
How to be an ally…We must refuse to silence them any more.
Head to the National Reconciliation Week website for more information on events and films:

Labor's commitment to fuel climate change to 2050 and beyond is a death sentence for Western Australians. The government's own health experts have predicted a 60% rise in heat-related deaths by 2050, and a 30% rise in emergency department admissions. Meanwhile, WA Labor are doing nothing to prepare for this. Hospitals already at capacity, and they are doubling down on urban planning policies that ensure Perth is remains a heat island.
We are calling on the government to take the climate crisis seriously, and to listen to their own experts.
We need to stop new gas projects, invest in renewables, and kick our addiction to fossil fuels.
