Life is good. Especially with what happens after Mums n Bubs classes:
“Umm George just woke up from 2 1/2 hour post yoga sleep 😳😳
It obviously agrees with him!”
Clearly a reason why Baby George never misses his weekly practice with his mum.

At the start of last month all of this happened and aren’t we proud to be the mindfulness partner for @thehikecollective. They’ve absolutely nailed the whole local tourism business getting us all to explore the wonders of our beautiful home of Perth. Your only option isn’t just to practice yoga at @bodyscapeyoga, for some you might take on the opportunity to roll out your mat at the Yanchep Caves with followed by a mindfulness hike and @inner_ego juice, for others it might be a practice at home via Members Hub our online platform! Whatever the case may be, you always have options. Next Mindful Hike dates with Bodyscape teacher Victoria - she claims teaching at the Caves is always like a fairytale: - Sunday 3rd Oct - 9am - Sunday 17th Oct - 9am & 10am - Sunday 14th Nov - 9am & 10am - Sunday 5th Dec - 9am - Sunday 16th Jan - 9am & 10am - Sunday 30th Jan - 9am
Still beaming with goodness as it was all smiles and yoga on the weekend when we celebrated Polly’s 21st. A good flow, delicious snacks and breakfast (including cake), Polly and her friends made it the perfect Sunday. “It was even better than I imagined. Give my thanks to Victoria for such a beautiful class. Everyone loved it - especially the partner poses! It was accessible to everyone which was something I was worried about. Thank you so much for making this happen”. - @pollyfewster

Spring is a time of rebirth. Renewal. It’s also a time of pollen & allergies. It is easy for Kapha to build and we look for a pranayama practice that helps to counterbalance the heavy, wet qualities of Kapha. The perfect pairing for spring and to settle Kapha is bhastrika, or bellows breath. Step by Step: Take the breath in and out of the nostrils but pump the breath through your belly, one stroke per second. The emphasis is both on inhalation and exhalation which varies and differences to khapalabati which focuses on just exhalation (and is a lot faster). It increases heat in the body so is best practiced at the beginning of your practice or when the temperature is cooler. Not for pregnant ladies. After twenty seconds, breathe normally. Relish the new energy your system has brought in. Repeat. Aim for 100 breaths. Check out Members Hub for the full Bhastrika practice and learn more about pranayama in the link in our bio. #bodyscape #wellnessin10
Pitta & Summer – Sh*tali / Cooling Breath: Sitkari (where you grit the teeth and forcefully inhale between the teeth) is the alternative exercise to Sh*tali (where you curl the tongue), both are used to cool the body down. Normally practiced in the heat of summer, or when our pitta is burning hot, we crave a cooling breath to regain some sense of balance. This is not recommended to practice first thing in the morning or during Winter. A sh*tali breath is a gentle, relaxing one. Choose a cool place to sit. Draw your attention to your tongue. Curl it into a tube and gently draw your breath in, cooling it as you do. Then close your mouth and touch your tongue’s tip to the roof of your mouth. Imagine cool energy flowing up into your nose as you slowly breathe air out through your nose. Breathe this way for a few minutes – anywhere up to five minutes. Aim for 16 breaths. The slow, cooling breaths will bring a sense of coolness, calm, and peace. Check out Members Hub for the full Sh*tali practice and learn more about pranayama in the link in our bio. #bodyscape #wellnessin10
Ayurveda says that the way and type of exercise you need is dependant on your #dosha - vata/pitta/kapha. Are you a Kapha? Kapha types may struggle to find the motivation to work out. However, once they do, they love how stimulating it is for their minds and bodies, and the lightness it brings to their otherwise heavy energy. And while Kaphas may be slow to start, once they start there is no stopping them; they have the highest endurance of all the Doshas and can tolerate the longest duration of exercise. Kaphas naturally store fat more easily than the other Doshas so the focus for you is on building up a sweat. Try having a hot ginger tea before exercising and choose cardio, HIIT, power yoga to speed up your metabolism and pump up your heart rate. Check out Members Hub for a short yoga sequence for a Kapha type and learn more about movement in the link in our bio. #bodyscape #wellnessin10
It’s all about movement this week for Wellness in 10! Ayurveda says that the way and type of exercise you need is dependant on your #dosha - vata/pitta/kapha. Are you a Pitta? Pittas are natural athletes. They love to push themselves to the limit, will enjoy any form of competitive sport and have strong staminas and strong bodies. If you are a pitta type, you are likely to choose more hard-core activities like boot-camps, boxing, circuits. You gain muscle easily and love to see the benefits of exercise on your body. But again, if health is the goal, balance is key therefore Pitta’s need to offset this naturally competitive energy with non-competitive, relaxing workouts. Yoga, pilates, meditation are a great inclusion for you to reset your nervous system and ground down after your intense workouts. It’s also important for Pittas to avoid getting overheated. Think about when and where you exercise to avoid intense heat and focus on workouts that allow you to move, strengthen and stretch your body, while cooling down - like swimming. And much like your Vata friends, it is also crucial for you to take your rest days. Pittas like to go, go, go and often forget to schedule in rest. Diarise a couple of off-days during the week and enjoy stretching your body out. Check out Members Hub for a short yoga sequence for a Pitta type and learn more about movement in the link in our bio. #bodyscape #wellnessin10
