The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has issued a critical alert for the area bounded by Lakes Road, Paterson Road, Rogers Road, and Pinjarra Road, including the Kwinana Freeway.

📅 Date Issued: 04 November 2023

🔥 Situation:
A dangerous bushfire has escalated, posing an immediate threat to lives and homes. Conditions are rapidly changing, with the fire now crossing the Kwinana Freeway.

🚨 What to Do:

➡️ For those EAST of Goegrup Lake Nature Reserve and Black Lake to Paterson Road:
- It's too late to leave - doing so now is life-threatening.
- Shelter in your home, in a room away from the fire front.
- Ensure you have a clear escape route.
- Close all doors and windows, turn off evaporative air conditioners.
- Wear long sleeves, trousers (cotton or wool), and sturdy leather boots for protection.

➡️ For those WEST of Goegrup Lake Nature Reserve and Black Lake to Lakes Road and Pinjarra Road:
- If it's safe to do so, leave NOW in a westerly direction.
- Do not delay - waiting can be deadly.
- Close all doors and windows, turn off evaporative air conditioners.
- Have water running through the system if possible.
- If unable to leave, prepare to shelter in place.
- Select a room with two exits and water source (kitchen or laundry).
- If away from home, do not attempt to return - it's too hazardous.
