Take it slow friends. Any quick solutions which are passive are likely to not be that helpful.
We are all complex, working with our anxiety, stress, pain or trauma is not a short term process.
Why do I love yoga? It teaches us all to self soothe, to regulate and open to an inrerconnectedness that allows for compassion and generosity.
Let’s make a list! When you feel overwhelmed or triggered or down or anxious what do you do? Maybe we do lots of the same things?
Let’s see what the YS teachers do?! And remember our team is trauma sensitive in how they approach teaching, they are mental health aware and seek to empower you!

Today on Guru Purnima we think of Rolf and all the time we had together. Rob passed away very recently.
We followed Rolf (and Kirsten) through Asia, starting when we were living in Singapore, then to a remote beach in Thailand, then Bali and India. They were our first Ashtanga teachers (before Iain Clarke and Sharath/Pattabhi/Saraswati Jois).
We practiced and always remember Rolf’s “full power”, went to Sizzler as this was the only place we could get a salad in Bangkok back then and just spent time doing very little together.
We practiced so much in Mysore and learnt a great deal and are thankful. But it was with Rolf and Kirsten we learnt so much about being teachers. Rolf was clear and kind, he didn’t want any special honorifics. He was no one’s “Guruji”.
He taught what he loved because it brought him peace and insight, and he wanted this for his students. This is why we teach also.
We are grateful for the many years we spent hanging in South East Asia with him. And while you can no longer practice with Rolf, Kirsten returns to Bali each year to teach find her here

Why do you practice yoga?
Yoga has immense physical and mental health benefits - yet this is not the original purpose of yoga.
While ancient yogis were indeed reducing their stress levels and improving their heart rate variability - their practice did not have this goal in mind.
Some people believe there is one specific purpose of yoga. Yet in yoga there are competing schools, philosophies and approaches to practice. And when we say practice we aren’t talking sun salutes or Ashtanga / Vinyasa / Yin - most of what we do as yoga now (in terms of postures) is recently modern.
Here at Yoga Space we empower you to discover beyond asana if you what and when you’re ready. We approach teaching Philosophy with curiosity.
I began teaching eastern philosophy at the University of QLD when I was 26 and then Bond University.
Learning philosophy outside of a university context removes the need for assessment and opens the door to exploration.
In our two months of asana and beyond you’re invited to join us to explore in a non dogmatic way the philosophies of yoga and how they apply to everyday modern concerns and problems.
