Halloween’s fast approaching, yes I know you’re thinking, Mel its still a few months away. But trust me you’ll be surprised how quickly it’ll come.

I know it’s a massive celebration in the states and it’s fast becoming the norm here in Aus, we’ve been seeing some really cool displays over the last few years and while working on this years designs, which I can’t wait to share, we will have a couple of themes you can hire for 2024. How crazy was the wind over the weekend?

It got me thinking, how to add warmth to your home through your styling homewares.

So here’s my top three ways to add warmth to your home during the colder months.

❄️ Cosy Cushions - Bring warmth to your room by adding some deep coloured cushions and throws, this’ll make your space feel cozy.

❄️ Perched Birds - These guys are a great homeware decor piece, but I do love bringing mine out in the cooler months to add some depth to my space with darker styling elements.

❄️ Timber Trays - great to use for serving food or curate an easily accessible styling vignette on a table.

We loved creating this home so much we wanted to share it with you again!

And since it’s on the chilly side, we thought that it was the perfect time to share this particular project especially since its styled with a warm colour palette, perfect for this time of year.

I ❤️ the textures and tones we added in this home.

Well they are for me at the moment, if there’s one thing I love about winter, it’s our fireplace 🔥. It is so relaxing, curled up in front of it with a good book or scrolling the web enjoying my down time.

Did you know we designed our fireplace, yep every inch of it!

We selected a natural toned stacked stone as the surround feature, providing warmth and texture to the space, the fireplace is a LOPI Linear Fireplace 🔥🔥🔥 , as you may already know I’m a lover of traditional style, so we wanted a traditional detailed mantle surround, this is where our project hit a snag, while researching fireplace surrounds, we found that pre-made mantlepieces were only designed for square style fireplaces, so we had to either find a solution or compromise on the design.

So I did what any designer would do, researched products and ways as to how keep with the original concept. We improvised and designed our very own custom-made mantle that was constructed onsite during the installation process, it’s custom made from individual pieces of plaster mouldings and we ❤️ it!

Finding solutions to design snags is part of the process and a reason why I love designing and decorating. ☺️

🥶 Here’s a Winter Tip!

Since winter is upon us so we’re searching for warmth anywhere we can get it. Here are a few simple tips when it comes to purchasing throw rugs this winter season.

☑ Consider a knitted wool, or cashmere blend for the warmer months ahead.

☑ Purchase varying colour shades from within your rooms colour palette.

☑ Don’t forget about your Guests. Pop a few extra throws in a decorative basket, handy for when you have guests over.

Well I’ve been working on some big projects, which I can’t wait to share with you in the coming months, one was the final main living space in a clients home we’ve been working on over the last few years and another is a couple of new Tiny Homes which were on display at the recent Tiny Home Expo in Sydney.

Besides that I’ve been organising the back end of my business to create a seamless interaction for each and every client I work with.

I’ve got loads to share so you’ll see more often promise.

To all the mums who give of themselves day after day, we see you, you are a special kind of person.

When I think about being a mum I think of things like caring, loving unconditionally, finding strength deep within because another human needs you, being supportive, being proud, helping guide, always nurturing, willing to put others first, teaching, learning, wanting the best for another, loving another human so much more than you could ever have imagined.

Being a mum is one of my life’s greatest achievements, I'm forever grateful for the privilege, blessed to guide and nurture my beautiful son, who makes me proud every dame day…. whom I’d follow to the end of this earth and do absolutely anything for, that’s what being a mum is to me. 💞

Cheers to all the mum's, Let’s celebrate each other!

Why your dining room should have a console or buffet!

Buffets or Consoles are the perfect dining room furniture piece, heres why, they give you a horizontal space to add some styling to your room as well as being a function piece of storage.

Here’s a few ways you could utilise your buffet;

- Section and organise any table setting items you might have, like table cloths, placemats and napkins.
- Store occasional items you would use when entertaining, like platters, wine glasses, and extra cutlery.
- Create a mini bar, place your favourite liquor bottles and bar utensils and some glassware, ready at a moments notice when it’s time to celebrate. (Family Friendly Tip - don’t forget to put a child lock on it to avoid any little hands gaining access)

Why not dine in style!

A dining table is more then just a shape, selecting the perfect shape and style depends in a number of things.

Heres a few to consider…

🤔 How many people you want to seat.

🤔 Do you have a preferred style.

I’m proud to say I had many relatives on both my mothers and fathers side who stool up and protected our county, on this day I remember with honour both my grandfathers who have since past for their strength, commitment and loyalty they had not only shown in their lives and show through me in my love for this great country we get to call home.

Today and always at the going down of the sun, we will remember them, lest we forget.

Is the ice build up on your windscreen in the morning yet, ours is close?

It's getting fresh not only in the mornings, but also mid afternoon, I'm ready to jump under my warm throw (especially if it's an office day). I’m not a lover of the cold... But everyone knows I am a lover of functional home decor, which means it’s time to swap out your lighter throws to some heaver ones.

If you haven't got yourself any as yet, consider adding knitted wool or cashmere textile throws, they’re great for the cooler months, ready to have on hand at a moments notice to warm you or any guests, while snuggled up enjoying a little TV time, a movie or even a tea 🫖 over conversation.

Knitted throws are a great addition to your living and bedroom spaces, they add warmth to the room while being functional, bring in some warmer colours to really set the mood.

Ok no judgement, I need to know… which one are you?

Life's about perception and interpretation right?

This quote resonates with me on a deep level and I wanted to share my interpretation.

I seek to create beauty in all the spaces I create, in hopes for it to be the beauty people are looking for and I do this through my details design process, getting to know each and every client on a personal level extracting from within what beauty feels like to them.

I understand it since capturing my souls essence within my home, with the use of colours, finishes, decor and furnishings its filled with items that brings me joy and makes my heart sing, I find that in its self brings beauty to everyone around me.

Want to know why adding colour to your home is essential?

It impacts your mood, can bring a calming effect, relieves stress and even gives you energy.

Wanting to love your own space is on everyones list so consider bringing in some colour and texture is essential.

Be brave if you have a favourite colour, consider bringing in shades of it throughout your home, you wont regret it, I promise.

Here's just a few ways to help get you started.

Add a few different shades of colour through your favourite textiles like, cushions, rugs, throw blankets.

Purchase a few decor items in various shades, for instance say your favourite colour happens to be blue, you could add some blue hydrangeas in a vase on your coffee table, or a gorgeous blue vase with some white ones to add a pop of colour.

Think about your wall art, you can decorate your walls with a combination of colours which will create a mood you'll love.

Or you could even paint a wall or door in your favourite colour, now I'm not saying go all out and paint every wall or door, but you may want to consider a feature wall, maybe wall paper this will add interest to your space, and please don’t go doing every suggestion I’ve just mentioned (please don’t) it’ll be way to much.

But remember it's all up to you, because you should love your home!

Do you love hosting seasonal events at your home or is it something you dread?

I’m a homebody, I love being at home surrounded by family and friends, I enjoy hosting too, I’m not quite sure if it’s my controlling nature 🤭, I like to know whats happening, when it’s happening and how it’s happening. I’m a details girl for sure.

I’m always working on some space in our home, if its not swapping out decor to suit the season, styling rooms for seasonal celebrations it usually changing a wall colour or finish. Oh well he’ll get used to it eventually right. 😜
