Buttons is a wonderful & gentle mumma goat and we’re looking forward to sharing her delicious milk 🥛 with Tilda & Tulsi in a week or so when we’ll start milking in the mornings again.

This beautiful branch of Melaleuca flowers dropped down and landed at my feet this morning while walking over to feed & water the goats. 🌸

A reminder that we’re not the only busy bees around here. The birds 🕊️ & the bees 🐝 are busy too, harvesting nectar from these gorgeous flowers.

It’s a very sad day for us. Our gorgeous goat Joshy passed away last night. He was such a gentle boy, always nuzzling for extra pats (and figs). Patient with goats & humans. He brought lots of love & joy into our lives and we miss his lop eared goofiness in the goat shed keenly.

This unrelenting rain is terrible for the bacterial balance in a goats rumen. The combo of wet leaves & grasses rich in sugars & protein from rapid growth can throw their gut microbe balance out so quickly & they can sometimes die within hours. We really thought he was out of the woods & would pull through.

Joshy is the 2nd goat we have lost this rainy season. And we nearly lost his mum, Margo just a month or so ago for the same reason.

Joshy was buried today and will nourish the gooseberry tree planted over him.

This is by far the hardest part of caring for animals. These sad times are a reminder all of life is fleeting & so very precious. We hope that Joshy has taken the love we shared with him & is right now levelling up and readying himself for his next journey.

So today we are a feeling a bit 💔
But that’s not all that’s broken at Nubeean Noosa today, Sarah is also sporting a broken wrist after slipping over in the rain early this morning!

Goats, bees and humans are hoping for a nice hot & dry winter here in the Noosa Hinterland.

We definitely made the most of the girls’ 🐝 amazing work! 😍

🫒 Pure Olive Squalane Oil is Back in Stock! 🫒

We use a high quality, Pure Olive Squalane from France that is COSMOS approved and Ecocert certified.

Why do we use olive squalane and not sugar cane squalane?

The olive tree is a sustainable resource, rooted in the Mediterranean region and culture for centuries. These established olive groves do not require any deforestation or use of monoculture crops.

Sugarcane on the other hand is a monoculture crop that is more intensively managed with fertilisers, pesticdes and herbicides.

Sugarcane farming has also fueled deforestation in some of the world’s most threatened ecosystems—including Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, which once covered a massive area but has been reduced to just 7% of its original size. The sugarcane used to produce squalane is grown in Brazil.

You might also be surprised to discover that sugarcane, unlike olives, does not actually contain any squalane. Instead, the sugarcane pulp is fed to genetically engineered yeast who bio ferment it to produce a chemical called farnesene. Farnesene is then subjected to several steps of chemical processing to eventually produce squalane.

Squalane is the most wonderful moisturiser for all skin types and is the foundational ingredient used in our skincare, It’s important to us that not only is it the best and highest quality for YOUR skin but that it’s also the best choice for OUR planet!

It is our hope that Australian olive oil can be used to produce squalane in the future 😍🍃

Evening cool downs at the lake 😍

We are currently experiencing some VERY hot weather at the moment! Temps in the high 30’s BUT add in the humidity & it really is HOT 🥵 Proper Aircon weather… So, each evening we all head up to the lake for a few hours outdoors, expending some of that pent up energy 🤪🤪

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to go! ❤️🍃

Goats & Fences! 🙄

Margo managed to get properly tangled in the electric netting today! 😬Luckily it wasn’t on! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

When Sarah got to her she was just calmly sat there waiting to be extracted 🤦🏼‍♂️

Here in southeast QLD everywhere is sooooo dry it’s important to keep a close eye on grazing stock as there is very little growing for them in the pastures! We are supplementing with lucerne, various hays & cuttings from around the property BUT obviously today it wasn’t enough for poor Margo who currently has 3 kids to feed too!

All turned out well & Margo is perfectly fine, just another warning you can never take your stock for granted 😊
