🛑MEET ROSACEA 🛑

If you could mix a hot curry, on the skin and sunburn together it would feel like Rosacea.

We have had many clients through the door this winter with the changes of the weather experiencing Rosacea, and it’s flare ups and the frustrations it brings.

Rosacea is most common with people with fair skin
and the term “couperose skin” is sometimes used to describe skin that’s shows it signs.

It is generally experienced in males and females over 30 years old with light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes and we have found it to be more common with our clients that show the signs of menopausal skin.

The chronic inflammation in the skin can show up in

🔍- facial redness and flushing in the center of the face
🔍visible blood vessels
🔍sensitive skin
🔍burning and stinging skin
🔍formation of pimples and pustules that may contain pus
🔍thickening of the skin, especially of the nose
🔍the development of an enlarged nose

This week we wanted to talk to you about a recent client who came into the clinic.

As you can see there is an effected area of pustules to the forehead region and this was the only area that was effected with the rest of her skin appearing flawless and free of outbreaks.

How frustrating and the fact that the client was done with everything and every skin and beauty clinic she had been to prior selling her products and treatments which had not been successful at all. My client was told that it was just an outburst of pimples and if she was to use a cleanser / exfoliation agent it would clear up.

🤔…… hmmmm…. Not the case and every Acne is different and this is Fungal Acne (Malassezia folliculitis).

With fungal acne, there will be a cluster of either red bumps (papules) on the skin or pustules (white heads) of a similar size usually between 1 to 2mm. It normally presents in a clustered patch on the forehead, temples and frontal hair line. and can be pretty itchy.

Is there a cure ? YES but knowing how to treat it goes along way then just prescribing a million products which in honesty I feel for my client with the amount she has already spent visiting previous clinics and not having a successful outcome.

WHEN THE SEASONS CHANGE SO CAN THE SKIN…..

Let’s talk about PERIORAL DERMATITIS ….and what it looks like on the Skin?

Lately at Cooroora Body and Beauty we have seen some hard skin cases including this one .☝️

What is PERIORAL DERMATITIS and how does it present itself on the skin????

Perioral dermatitis is usually around the mouth and displays a rash with dermatitis being inflammation of the skin in the same area. It can also present though different ways called Periorificial dermatitis displayed around the eyes and nose characterised by groups of itchy or tender small red pustules.

This condition is hard and we always don’t know what causes it and it should have a medical diagnosis but in some cases not every one gets to see a dermatologist or a doctor so hears some helpful tips and information to help.

What are some triggers?

🌿Steroids topical and internal inhalers
🌿Fluoride - toothpaste
🌿Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS)
🌿Mint or cinnamon flavouring
🌿Environment stressors or example harsh sun and wind exposure and hot water in the shower on the face.
🌿Skincare products
🌿Hormones
🌿Wearing a face mask

What you can do if you can’t get to see a dermatologist or doctor???

Take a product holiday only using the bare minimum a natural non perfumed basic cleanser and a natural non perfumed basic light cream minus your sunscreen , retinoids, serums and exfoliants. Remember this is only for a while until it clears up and is not temporary.

If you do get to see a doctor or a dermatologist and you are prescribed a topical cream which will normally happen be sure to watch out for a re-bound trigger so in this case use it as prescribed and slowly wean of it.

WHEN WE LOOK AT SKIN!!!!!

Skin is so different for everyone ….. It might be some one looking to reverse the signs of ageing, it might be someone who has problematic skin or a skin condition that needs to be treated.

But can I say this as your skin therapist? 🙋‍♀️

YOU CANT FIX THE SIGNS OF AGING OVER NIGHT AND YOU CANT TREAT PROBLEMATIC SKIN IN ONE TREATMENT IT TAKES TIME !!!!!

Skin is like our bodies when we go to the gym and we want to see results we have to work at it daily to be looking fit and fabulous. Skin is very much the same we have to follow a skin routine with great skincare products daily and also ensure we have the correct products that are suitable for the skin. On top of that to enhance your results it gets recommended that you have your monthly treatments to get a desired outcome your wishing to achieve.

Why monthly?????

In young adults, the skin cell turnover cycle takes around 28 days, but the rate naturally slows as we age. For example, if you're 50, your skin could take up to 50 days for a newly produced cell to die and be shed from the surface. So in hindsight to help speed up the results to the skin we recommend monthly treatments will enhance the skin by helping to kick the skin cells into gear to able to treat and repair the desired effect and outcome the client might be working towards. (Acne, skin rejuvenation, tone and elasticity, wrinkle reduction, healthy looking skin ect.)

ACNE TREATMENTS @ COOROORA BODY & BEAUTY 🙌

Lately we have been excited to be working in conjunction with Dr. Daniel Bothma an associated skin cancer and skin expert, from the Dermasurg Clinic at Kuluin, Sunshine Coast.

It was recommended that the client was to take on further ongoing in house LED Light Therapy treatments to speed up the process of healing to the skin whilst undergoing further prescription medication for the ACNE.

Why LED light Therapy you ask?????

With regular Blue light therapy treatments it can address any further acne breakouts. The wavelength of blue light has an antimicrobial effect, making it effective at killing several types of bacteria that can collect in the pores and oil glands and cause breakouts and it’s bacteria to spread.

AN EXCITING WEEK BEFORE EASTER 🐣

This week Cooroora Body and Beauty has been asked to attend and teach a 3 x Day Yoga 🧘‍♀️ and mindfulness meditation workshop for 40 year 11 students all the way from Brisbane.

Although our morning was a little crammed with the weather not working in our favour it was a nice way to start the day prior to stepping into the clinic before massages and facials.

We are what we practice on a daily basis and to be able to set a foundation of teaching students how breathe, focus and increase the blood flow back to their muscles as well as teach some simple techniques of how to ground themselves, slow the brain and to be able to accept and step into that present moment I felt so privileged to teach.

Setting the foundation for their day of learning I am excited for what the rest of our week brings with these students of greatness.
