In January, authorities in East Africa reached out to O.U.R. to request assistance in a rescue operation for two minors who were allegedly being sexually exploited and forced into labor at the hand of a 36-year-old man.

Swiftly, both our Aftercare and Operations team joined local police to travel to the location where the survivors were being kept. The two girls were found, and when the team continued their search, they discovered three more minors locked in an adjacent room. They reportedly were being trafficked in the same manner by the same suspect. The girls were 11 years, 13 years, and 12 years old.

The suspected predator was arrested and admitted to trafficking the children to help with his business. The minors were then taken to a trusted health center where they received professional medical assessments. Two of the minor girls were found pregnant and are continuing to receive essential medical care. The other three are with a foster family protection unit for their safety and aftercare support.
