Why MOVEMENT in young children is IMPORTANT 🫶
Movement is one of the main ways that children learn, develop and grow. It is good for all areas of your child’s development, including their gross & fine motor skills development.
Being active can help your child in many ways, including;
• growth of bones, muscles and joints
• supports healthier heart and lungs
• encourages coordination, strength and muscle control
• improved brain development
• better concentration and thinking skills
Movement for young children can include;
• bike rides around the block
• playing at the park
• going for walks
• kicking balls around
The WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION states that;
Children 3-4 years of age should spend at least 180 minutes in a variety of types of physical activities at any intensity, of which at least 60 minutes is moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity, spread throughout the day; more is better.

We made it to the end of of the 10 WEEK FITNESS PROGRAM with Kids F**t with Krystal at Port Side Preschool and Long Daycare Centre 🫶
Today was all about FUN, FITNESS and CELEBRATING the ending of the fundamental fitness program.
We had many GREAT races that encouraged and supported the children to work togethor as a team but also extend on their gross and fine motor skills.
At the end of the sessions, each child received a certificate of completion for their amazing performance over the 10 weeks.
A massive thank you to amazing owners & staff at Port Side Preschool and Long Daycare Centre for allowing us the opportunity to launch this program.
It’s been amazing watching the children’s skills and personalities blossom 😀

Yoga & Mindfulness 🧘♀️
Today was all about YOGA and Mindfulness.
We incorporated many different yoga poses while focusing on deep breathing.
Some of the yoga poses include;
Downward Dog, Warrior 1 & 2, Bird/Dog, Butterfly and Tree Pose.
We also added in some meditation which allowed the child to either sit or lay down while they focus on breathing and letting their mind go to their happy place 🤩
Benefits of Yoga for children include;

➡️ Trains Fine and Gross Motor Skills ⚖️

Kids F**t with Krystal is all about bringing children together through outdoor movement 🥰
Today was all about FUNCTIONAL FITNESS.
We did a CIRCUIT STYLE SESSION which involved;
➡️ Using a timer (45 secs on / 15 secs rest)
➡️ Completing a body weight exercise
➡️ 3 rounds of the circuit
Some of the exercises included squats, push ups, star jumps, high knees, planks, sit ups.
This style of training supports children to be able to completely hit all aspects of fundamental fitness.
This includes Cardiovascular Health, Strength Training, Endurance Building, Agility Training, Balance and Coordination
Massive well done to all. Was a tough one but you all did amazing and should be proud 🫶

A massive WIN for children is when they start to enjoy movement rather then feeling thou it’s like a chore 🫶
Let’s build a OBSTACLE Course. 💗
This week we incorporated many different gross motor skills to build a obstacle course.
We started with;
➡️ Jumping over hurdles
➡️ Balancing on a balance beam
➡️ Running in and out of cones
➡️ Jumping in and out or hoops
➡️ Crawling through a tunnel
Once we all had a turn of each individual skills we then put it all together for a fun obstacle course.
The children took turns to each participate and encourage each other on.

KIDS F**T WITH KRYSTAL is a fun way to support and build young children’s fundamental skills 🫶
A 10 week program that gives children the opportunity to explore many gross and fine motor skills, through fun and interactive activities while been outdoors.
Each week we focus on one specific fundamental skill and provide the children with activities that focus on that skill.
We make it fun and engaging for all children 🫶
Based at local daycares /preschools in the area.
Practice makes progress. 🫶
We encourage and guide children that building and learning new skills is a progress and we don’t have to be perfect at everything.
Today was all about the gross motor skills of hopping & balancing.
Our activities included;
➡️ Hula Hoop Hop scotch: hoops were lined up in a hop scotch formate and the children take turns to balance on one leg and hip through the hoops.
➡️ Balancing on stepping stones ; balancing stones were placed in different lines and the children were encouraged to step and balance along these.
➡️ Obstacle course; hoops, stepping stones and small steps were placed in a obstacle course formate and the children are took the opportunity to complete the fun course.
So many smiles and laughter this morning 🫶
During many of our FUN & EXCITING activities that we do , we are not only building and supporting children’s fine and gross motor skills , but we are also encouraging and guiding them through other lifestyle skills such as waiting their turn.
When we promote the skill of waiting turns we are educating them about sometimes in life we have to learn to wait for things such as taking turns.
Thanks to these 3 children that happily showed us and the other children how great they were at waiting their turn 🫶
Happiness is doing what you love, but when others notice see it, it makes it more special 🫶

It’s WEEK 5 at Kids F**t with Krystal 🫶
And this was a FUN and energetic session.
Our aim ;
Was to support and encourage children’s gross motor skills of dancing and music 🎵
Our objectives;
Was to provide activities to the children that support the gross motor skill of dancing & music. 🎵
Our activities included;
➡️ Musical Chairs: music is played while the children complete different movements around the outside of the chairs such as as hopping and skipping. Then when the music stops the children are encourage to find a chair. This is repeated each round , but one chair is removed until the there is one chair left.
➡️ Animal Dance; many animal cards are placed on the ground. The children take times to pick up a card, say what animal is on the card then demonstrate how they feel that animal may dance or move .
We then ended the session with some highly requested ballet/dancing mini kicks 😀
Well done to each of the amazing participants.

➡️ preschoolers should be encouraged to move or exercise daily. This can include activities such as bike rides, playing at a park, kicking a football or even going swimming.

This week was all about supporting the fundamental gross motor skill of JUMPING. ⭕️
The children utilised hula hoops to complete many activities that involved jumping.
We started with a WARM UP to get the body warm so we reduce injuries.
We then followed this with activities for jumping that included ;
➡️ Jumping on the spot to get the movement of jumping going.
➡️ Individual Jumping into a Hoop - which involved the children taking turns jumping in and out of a hoop.
➡️ Partner Jumping- the children paired up and worked togethor to jump into the hoops .
➡️ Jumping in longer distances - which involved jumping in many hoops that had been lined up
We then finished with some stretching to cool down the body and recover from the activities.

Another week has been completed with Kids F**t with Krystal at PORTSIDE PRESCHOOL and Long Daycare Centre 🫶
WEEK 3 consisted of supporting the fundamental gross motor skill of THROWING. ⚽️
The children utilised beam bags and hula hoops to complete many activities that involved throwing.
We had;
➡️ Ball Throw - which involved the children taking turns to choose a hoop and throw the bean bag into the hoop.
➡️ Partner Bean Bag Throw- the children paired up and worked togethor to throw the bean into a hoop.
➡️ Name a Friend & Throw the Beanbag - which involved standing in a circle and one person at a time says a name of a friend , then then throw the bean bag to them.

Week 2 🫶
Second week of Kids F**t with Krystal
Our aim was to develop the children’s kicking skills.
Our objective was: to provide a range of activities to children’s fundemental skill of kicking
Activities included ball bowling, kicking balls in between cones plus cone and ball races. 🥰
So much energy and effort was demonstrated with all 🥹 well done 👏
FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS 🫶
What are FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS ?
➡️ Fundamental movement skills are a specific set of skills that involve different body parts such as feet, legs, trunk, head, arms and hands.
Why are FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS important?
➡️ These skills are the “building blocks” for more complex and specialised skills that kids will need throughout their lives to competently participate in different games, sports and recreational activities.
Three FUNDAMENTAL movement skills categories include:
➡️ Balance skills - Movements where the body remains in place, but moves around its horizontal and vertical axes.
• Locomotor skills - such as running, jumping, hopping, and galloping.
• Ball skills - such as catching, throwing, kicking, underarm roll and striking.
Ways to INCORPORATE these?
➡️ Fundamental Movement Skills can be include in daily routines and transitions.
Children can hop, skip, balance on one foot, throw a beanbag to a friend during any number of transitions that take place during a day.
This can include;
➡️ A large parachute can be used to encourage a number of fundamental skills. Children can walk, crawl, skip or hop around and under it.
Beanbags can also be used to underarm throw on or under the parachute before children need to retrieve the items.
You know that fear of starting something new and your anxious feelings making you believe and feel you will fail. 🫶
Well I’m here to tell you that’s very common to feel and experience.
If you seen yesterday, I launched my FIRST OFFICAL KIDS FITNESS (Kids F**t with Krystal ) program and wow I was so terrified that my anxious nerves got the best of me yesterday before starting the session.
Why was this;
➡️ because I was doing something new and we tend to worry about all this things that could go wrong instead of focusing on why your doing this.
But you know ;
➡️ the minute I started the session, my nerves disappeared and I become confident in what I was doing.
A leap of faith in the direction I am aiming towards. I may fail but I may succeed and I would rather try before I give up.

Today we started out Kids F**t with Krystal first offical fitness program and the children absolutely loved it.
Our aim was to develop the children’s running skills.
Our objective was: to provide a range of activities to children’s fundemental skill of running.
Activities included ball runs & egg and spoons races. Plus some added in stretching. 🥰
So many smiles and laughter we’re highlighted through out the session.

I am a qualified personal trainer who also runs my own outdoor women’s fitness business (F**twithkrystal) .
I have created Kids F**t to spread the word in the Port Macquarie area to get local daycare centres on board with launching my 10 week outdoor fitness program for children aged (3-5years).
