hello all, sorry for the quiet stint over isolation period. i hope you are all doing well have been coping and are ready to re enter the world. due to going from working at the gym straight into becoming a full time home schooler made it difficult for me to run my business and run my household at the same time so i unfortunately have not posted on here over the isolation period for which i apologise.

today with the announcement from the nsw government it is set that gyms will return to operation (although limited) on the 13th of june so not long now guys, im excited too! although this is exciting news it will now also bring some unfortunate news from my end. due to these unforseen circumstances of the covid-19 pandemic it is with great regret that i announce i will not be returning to world gym when we reopen. This decision was not made without great contemplation and consideration of what is best for me and my business.

i will still be running my business onliine for those who wish to still receive assistance in achieving their goals, i will be offering online coaching, fitness plan and nutrition advice to those confident to complete on their own with no f2f assistance from myself. this means that any previous clients of mine from world gym can still train with me it will just not be f2f training.

i hope that you all can understand and respect this decision as it was not an easy one for me to make but i need to put the health, safety and happiness of myself and my family first and foremost. i hope you all have a wonderful day and have already started a countdown to that illustrious opening. if anyone has any questions or would like to enquire about services please dont hesitate to contact me through this page.

EVERYTHING YOU DO NOW IS FOR YOUR FUTURE!

So you have goals right? You have goals for your health, you have goals for your fitness, you have goals for your career. But how often do you really think about your future? I dont just mean these goals, but have you ever really took a long hard think about where you'd like to be say 5 years from now? For me it's a successful business helping my clients achieve their goals and educating them so they can become self sufficient in their journey, having a child of my own, a healthy balance between work and home life, increasing my strength and fitness, owning my own home, furthering my education and being content and proud of all I have achieved in my timeline no matter how big or small the achievement. It's hard to timeline some of these things but I break down each goal into SMART format and give those micro achievements a timeline so I know I am on track towards this vision for my future.

So now I ask.... What does yours look like? What is your 5 year plan? Do you have a plan on how to achieve these goals? And most importantly are you on track? Sometimes it can be hard to plan and execute on your own, but don't be afraid or disheartened you are not alone. I'm here to help you plan, execute and achieve those milestones! πŸ’« Pt's and other professionals aren't intimidating or a money grab
πŸ’« Healthy eating isn't all about chicken, broccoli and rice.
πŸ’« Consistency is key, excuses and negative self talk won't get you results or motivation
πŸ’« Education for both yourself and your clients is paramount
πŸ’« Being a pt isn't just training someone it's also constant support and encouragement
πŸ’« Individualised programs and nutrition advice are the best for individual goals and results
πŸ’« As a pt not every client will listen to you despite paying for your services, some will think the internet knows best and constantly challenge you
πŸ’« Even though your focus is on your clients and helping them achieve their goals, don't forget to mentally and physically care for yourself

All of these things I learnt along my own journey or in becoming a pt and my first year or so in the industry. In every career or journey you will be constantly learning many things, what works best for you and/or your clients, how to perform better in your career and/or along your journey, why you love the ride and/or love what you do. You'll be forever educating and learning not just for yourself but for your clients and that's just one of the many reasons I love my job!

We all fail, we all falter, we all lose our direction in life at one point or another. We also all go through phases of life like chapters in a book, every phase is related the the ending but they all take off in their own direction in different ways to build a story.

In my journey I haven't always loved myself, I haven't always enjoyed being active (literally was the only class I didn't get an a and almost failed year after year all through school), I've had so many obstacles thrown in my way that knocked me down and sent me backwards (depression, anxiety, eating disorder, grief). I've felt(and sometimes still feel, bloody black dog) that I've failed my aspirations more times than I've created new ones. I could have been more consistent, I could have been more determined, I could have done things alot differently and I could have just stuck it out through it all and been where I truly wanted to be. But that wasn't the story life had planned for me, every obstacle led me to a new path that made the journey all the more rewarding, made me want to support others through theirs and made me who I am today. Depression made me love myself, anxiety made me reach out, ed's made me get educated and grief made me stronger.

My point is along our story we may fail, but it's an opportunity for learning and resolve. Don't let your failures define you or stick you in the quick sand, let them guide you on your path to the next big thing because you never know what that is, where it will take you or what you will learn and gain from it.

What a transformation! Biggest shout out to my client when she sent me this I was gobsmacked all her hard work is paying off! It can be hard managing a serious injury like a torn acl plus having a sedentary job where you work long hours but she has absolutely killed it. Her wedding pic was from back in November and now in my 4 week challenge she's even dropped another almost 2 kilos in 2 weeks! Her goal is to hit double digits for the first time in years and she's about to kick it's butt by the end of this challenge! And a bonus she has done this progressively and changed her lifestyle to boot so these results will be sustained well into her future!

This was just over 2 years ago, my goals were different to what they are now, back then I was working towards aesthetic goals of a lean, shaped physique. No I don't look like this today and that's because as I progressed in my journey and my career my goals changed as did my physique.

Now my goals are based on strength and all around health. I'm content with not having the leanest physique at the moment because with my current goals keeping my physique this lean would be more difficult, it would make me hungry and tired and leave me mentally struggling with a battle between focusing on my clients and focusing on myself. This doesn't mean that I am any less capable than I would be with a lean physique but it would take away from other elements from my daily life. We all go through phases of different physiques and goals. One day I might have these goals again but for now I'm happy with the course I'm running and putting more focus towards helping my clients achieve goals like this. πŸ’ͺ

Make wiser, healthier choices! I have had so many people come to work with me that have those goals to lose weight or drop body fat expecting their workouts to do the hard work for them. The look on some faces when I explain that their particular goal is 80% nutrition is astonishing. Now I'm not saying this as a bad comment against those people but it's simply astonishing to me that the general population are convinced it's the other way around.

This is the fight I put up everyday in my chosen career, the fight against bu****it information and pseudoscience posted all over the internet that misleads the gen pop to believing that healthy eating is only a small part of achieving their goals. If you have goals please speak to a professional! We don't charge to simply give you some advice on how to make wiser, informed and educated choices. We charge for services like structured plans and training but if you just want some advice, my inbox is always open, or you can always come in to the gym and just have a chat. 😊

⭐️ FITNESS IS FOR EVERYONE! ⭐️

Carol is the epitome of this creed, she is 65 and is the full time carer of her 2 grandchildren 1 with extreme high needs. Yet she still finds time during her respite hours to come in 3 x per week and work on improving her strength and fitness to extend and improve her lifestyle! From never stepping foot in a gym to coming in 3 x per week, increasing her strength periodically and always improving her form and ability this woman is an inspiration to anyone thinking that they are too aged or unfit to come to the gym and start working alongside a trainer on their goals.

Laura has always had a solid plank, over the weeks we've been progressively overloading by adding extra rounds or time and today we decided to test her limits with some weighted planks! We topped out with her having an additional 15kg to her plank! What a performance and we're not stopping there, another reason we should always aim for progress and not perfection!

Check out 's progress this year! Starting on the left in January 2019 to now in October 2019. Kristin is down 15kg and has made some serious physical changes to her physique πŸ’ͺ I can't take credit for all of this as she done quite alot herself before joining us here at world Gym and starting to work with me when she signed up. But this girl is going places fast!

She's made all this progress all while battling a torn ACL in her right knee, what a trooper! In the past 5 weeks we have been working together Kristin has gone down a whole size in tops after a long plateau of progress, what an achievement! And although we have to go easy on her lower body due to her injury we are coming along on leaps and bounds, building strength and functionality again and preparing her to be her strongest post surgery! She even has her wedding coming up next month and has to keep making alterations to her dress due to all the progress she is making. 😎 I can't wait to see where this lady gets, she's truly dedicated to her goals and won't stop for anything! I couldn't ask for a better client 😊

Success is the end result of dedication and consistency. But also success is determined by what we see as success, is it losing a certain amount of weight? hitting a new Pb on a lift? is it being a better you than you were yesterday?

Your version of success determines your path to get there, but these are some good key points to keep in mind as we outline our individual paths to success. Set your goals periodically, celebrate even the littlest wins, don't be disheartened by a small slip up! Remember that we are only human and make many mistake and life sometimes throws hurdles at us that we don't make it over, what matters is that we get up dust ourselves of and run head first towards the next one.

Check out these results from my client Greg, Greg is 51 years of age and has a predominantly sedentary job and until joining world Gym hadn't completed any structured exercise in almost 10 years. In just 4 weeks of hard work on a personalised program Greg has dropped 20.5cm off his overall measurements and only lost 0.8kg on the scale meaning most of his hard work has already begun converting to lean muscle massπŸ’ͺ

And this is all just with structured exercise, we haven't altered Greg's nutrition at all yet so I can only see more results coming for him in block 2 when we start altering nutrition as well πŸ‘ Excellent results Greg, keep up the hard work 😎

Apart from Sundays when I am the least active I have a pretty high daily calorie burn rate both active and resting. It took me years of training to adapt my body to metabolise food well especially protein and carbs. It also took alot of trial and error at finding what ratios works best for me for both fat loss and muscle gain.

For the last 8 months I've been eating in a surplus to my calories to help me really grow lean muscle muscle mass which can be hard for women but I'm comfortable with the changes it made to my body even if I gained some extra body fat in the process. But now it's time to reverse out of that surplus while keeping the strength and muscle mass that I've gained to create a leaner image for the upcoming summer.

So in my surplus I was eating around 2500 to 3000 cals per day depending on my calorie displacement, if it was higher I'd add some more food, lower I'd eat at my standard calories. For the last 4 to 6 weeks I've slowly taken that down to about 2300 to 2150 as to not starve my muscles through my heavy training days. For the next few weeks I'll be taking this down to 2000 to 1850 calories to really start the deficit process and begin to lean out while keeping my strength and gains.

πŸ“£Healthy isn't the number on the scale!πŸ“£

For all my life and into my late teens I was unhappy with myself, the way I looked, the way I felt, the comments others made about me. It made me fixate on that scale number so much it made things even worse! Depression, anxiety, an eating disorder and general unhappiness followed me like a black cloud. .
It wasn't until I found the gym and cried my heart out to my pt and enlisted her help that I realised healthy was so much more than a look or a number on the scale. It was how I felt comfortable in my own skin, how I felt strong both in body and mind and how I would feel making better choices for myself for the right reasons.-----She was my guardian angel, she was by my side step by step and inspired me to become the trainer I am today and the reason why I love doing the same for others. I threw away fixated goals like weight and what I thought myself and others would find aesthetically pleasing and switched them for more progressive goals like strength and self love. .
On the left at 18 I was 100+kg, I'd stopped weighing myself dreading seeing that number each time, on the right at 24(January this year) I was 65ish kilos again I'd stopped weighing myself not out of fear but out of realisation that the number on the scale had no real indication of my health what so ever.----- My point here is and always will be, don't give up, don't be afraid to enlist help and most of all learn to love yourself for who you are and what you are achieving not what some rubbish piece of apparatus tells you you are! We all have a journey and story, don't ever stop writing those chapters of progress, be your own motivation and your only competition!πŸ’ͺ . . . .

Treating yourself with balance!

When you're heading towards a goal sometimes it's hard to find the balance to enjoy the little things you feel you're restricted from. But really it's all about making better choices, you can still treat yourself and achieve your goals! The temptation can be unruly sometimes but when you're making better choices you do have options.

These giant cookies tempt me everyday when I walk into reception at work, so here and there when I know i can work it in to my current plan I'll grab one to curb those sweet tooth cravings I try so hard to ignore. These are a great example of how you can treat yourself while still achieving your goals and staying within your daily requirements (providing you track them accordingly). A flavour option for everyones taste and a healthier choice than binging on that packet of biscuits at home in the cupboard. They leave you satisfied in every aspect! 😍😍

I don't take or post alot of selfies, they're just not my thing at all. But sometimes when the pump is on after a juicy Sesh it's nice to snap a quick one to look back on how hard you pushed yourself that day. Especially on days when we feel like we can't lift ourselves let alone those weights.

I love my strength training and wouldn't give it up for the world! It frees me from my mind and let's me know what my body is capable of! Some people ask why I lift weights and why I prefer lifting heavy over things like cardio and hiit classes, the simple answer is, it's what suits me! My goals aren't aesthetically based, I don't aim to look like any fitness models or physique competitors... What I aim for is strength and lots of it so that's exactly what I train for!πŸ’ͺ
