2024 ACHIEVEMENTS - AND WE AREN'T EVEN HALF WAY THROUGH THE YEAR!
Welcome back to Victorian English Language Tutoring (VELT). It has been a while since we posted. See below for what has been happening in the world of VELT during 2024 so far!
REVISION COURSE
We launched our metalanguage revision course for the new 2024-2028 VCE English Language study design during term 1, with individual students and multiple schools signed up and benefiting from it already! You can find out more about it and sign up here: https://www.veltvce.com/course
SUBJECT ASSESSMENT
We have created a new type of one-on-one lesson where we examine students' knowledge alongside the prescribed VCAA study design and produce a report highlighting key strengths and weaknesses, what to work on and how to work on it for year 12 students. We create a game plan for the rest of the year together. No prior tutoring required - this is a game changer for new and current students alike. You can sign up here: https://www.veltvce.com/plans
STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We have commenced staff professional learning sessions and are journeying alongside multiple schools through their 2024 teaching and learning process. You can start the conversation about what individualised support your staff & school could be benefiting from by emailing Madi at [email protected].
TUTORING
Our students are already performing to a high standard, and it is only term 2! Tutoring lessons are still available for weekly group and/or private bookings, but spots are running out. You can sign up for lessons here: https://www.veltvce.com/plans

The Guardian uses the pun 'Seal of approval' as the title for an article about seals/dangerous wildlife. Consider the entertainment function of this clause, which captures audience attention. This creates memorability and furthers the overall social purpose of maximising reader interaction with their newspaper.
This is an example of how to briefly discuss puns in analytical commentaries. This example could be used in an essay about humour and language functions.
