Flinders Street Station turns 170 today!

The site previously known as ‘Melbourne Terminus’ commenced operations in 1854, when it was just a weatherboard shed and a single platform.

In the modern era, Flinders Street Station runs more than 2,200 train services a day, and is the base for Metro Trains Melbourne employees.

Meet you under the clocks?

Once they hit the network, our new X’Trap 2.0 trains will host a range of accessibility, safety and passenger features to make your journey a breeze.

Yarra Trams are also trialling using NaviLens to navigate between transport modes. This is being done at two locations:
📍 Flagstaff Station (rail to tram and vice versa).
📍 Footscray (tram to bus and train, and vice versa).

⚠️ Important safety message⚠️

Communities in the south-west are urged to remain vigilant at level crossings, with train testing taking place between South Geelong and Warrnambool from tomorrow, Friday 16 August until Sunday 25 August.

A locomotive and VLocity train will travel to and from Warrnambool this Friday and across the weekend, to complete important safety testing for signal and level crossing compatibility.

Test trains will also run between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds stations to safety test new infrastructure.

Daily freight services will run along the Warrnambool Line across the whole of next week as part of rail conditioning.

Communities and motorists are urged to take extra care, as trains can come from either direction at any time.

Always be alert and obey the warning signs when crossing the tracks.

VLocity trains are scheduled to run for the first time on the Warrnambool Line later this year and comprehensive testing is required before they can take passengers.

Seen this sign on a V/Line train? This means you’re sitting in a dedicated quiet zone 🤫

Turn down your volume on devices or pop the earphones in, switch your mobiles to silent and speak quietly, so everyone can enjoy a peaceful journey.

The quiet carriage is usually the leading or rear carriage of the train.
