You're on a first date with someone, and they tell you the name of their favorite book. You immediately leave. What's the book?]
I LOVED having this conversation with Angela Haupt at TIME magazine on what i'd change about Love Is Blind. If you know me, you'll know that reality TV is my guilty pleasure. I mean, i'm picky about it- although my 'will watch' and 'won't watch' lists are arbitrarily chosen. Love Is Blind is defo on the will-watch.
Confession: Angela and I talked for at least half an hour, she definitely knows what she's on about being a reality teev tragic herself, and I have no idea how she condensed what I (or everyone else) said into one paragraph. Genius. If you've got OPINIONS then you gotta read this.
What would you change?

There might be a secret to a long and happy romantic relationship, but it’s not solely located in gendered behaviour.
I work with a lot of q***r couples and also people in less traditional relationship models. The issues around unequal distribution of household chores, child-rearing and emotional/mental labor are not exclusive to people in opposite s*x relationships.
These issues are not exclusive to the behaviour of men and women.
Don’t get me wrong- it’s incredibly important for us to acknowledge and address these problems: as a society, in our romantic relationships and as individuals.
But does this kind of stuff actually spell the end of a relationship?
Well, again, not so much in my experience...

Spoiler: there’s no ‘secret’ to meaningful relationships, but understanding more about who we are as humans in-relationship, and then what to do when we lose sight of that can be a game-changer.

I decided to add relationship coaching and expand my counselling services because I love working with couples who are deeply dedicated to making their relationship the absolute best that it can be. They’re showing up to solve problems but they’re also excited about the work we can do together. They’re stuck but they’re not on the verge of splitting after too much damage has been done. To be blunt, they’re not flogging a dead horse.
Many people wait until it is way too late to seek help when their relationship is in trouble, but I hope that my relationship coaching offering can encourage folks who think they don’t need counselling to get in earlier and find out how bloody great things can be.
And while I help lots of different people relationships from traditional to not-so-much, I particularly fit well with folks who are more on the margins: rainbow families, childfree couples, non-monogamous folks, expats, the neurodiverse, and I’ve been told I feel culturally safe by several POC (a huge compliment). I also support friends and family in relationship coaching, because our romantic relationships aren’t the only important loves of our lives.

I’m in Sunday Life today sharing some insights on midlife crises.
Forget the red sportscar stereotype. A midlife crisis can fuel positive change “There are phases of life in which we experience existential crises, and one of those times is midlife...it’s a particularly interesting time for women.”
Yes.

Questions from teens answered by teens. This one I stole from The Guardian is answered so brilliantly I had to share it. After you read it, truly give yourself permission to celebrate a regular moment. Or specifically do something completely and utterly human with the knowledge that THIS is what makes a life great. What makes YOU great. X
