Ringwood Celtics are proud to be sponsoring Ringwood Hawks NBL1 Players Braelen Bridges and Annabel Deerbon for the 2024 NBL1 season.
Bridges is a 6’11 centre from the University of Georgia, bringing his inside presence and great rebounding to the Hawks this season.
Deerbon is a Hawks junior, playing from U12-U18 with the Hawks and brings great versatility to the Hawks this year with her natural offensive ability and great defensive game. Deerbon is an also past Celtics player, who was once part of our U18 A grade teams.
We wish Braelen, Annabel and their teams the best for the NBL1 season. Go Hawks!23

Our friends at The Performance Hub will be running athletic development clinics again in the last week of the school holidays.

The Performance Hub are excited to offer Ringwood Celtics players a greatly reduced rate for the clinics.
The clinics were really successful last year, so get in quick to reserve your place!

If their whistle is green they are under 18!
Basketball Victoria is launching a campaign to help provide appropriate environments for referees under the age of 18.
To help our community recognise a referee that is under the age of 18 they now have specifically designed, green whistles and lanyards. So the next time you are at your community basketball stadium get to know the Under 18 referees.

As always, please remember to show respect to all referees, as without them we cannot play.
If their whistle is green they are under 18!
We are launching a campaign to help provide appropriate environments for referees under the age of 18.
All officials should be respected, be free from abuse and feel safe which is why we launched the “NO REF, NO PLAY” campaign in 2022, which is still relevant today.
“IF THEIR WHISTLE IS GREEN, THEY ARE UNDER 18” campaign is focussing on our most vulnerable officials, as they are more easily influenced.
The intention of this campaign is to encourage those at games to publicly highlight just how incredible these children are for taking up a such a challenging role.
As community sport relies heavily on those under 18 to officiate our game, it is our responsibility to ensure we provide a positive environment to safeguard and retain them to ensure the future success of the sport we love.
So to help our community recognise a referee that is under the age of 18 we have specifically designed, green whistles and lanyards- which you will see at your community basketball stadium.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GAMES THIS WEEKEND.
Parking maybe difficult at The Nunawading Basketball Centre and some school venues this Saturday due to the AEC using the venue for voting in the Referendum.
It is suggested that you allow some extra time when arriving for your games this weekend.
Thanks for your understanding.
At the club AGM on Monday night, the club awarded the first Dane Francic Memorial Award to Lili Dodge.
Dane’s sisters, India and Maia, presented the award, explaining how much the club meant to a Dane and the qualities that Dane embodied - something that recipient Lili Dodge also possesses.
Congratulations Lili - such a deserving and worthwhile recipient of this award 💚
You can read India and Maia’s full speech below:
“We stand here on behalf of a whole crew of people who were lucky enough to know Dane before he died and tonight celebrate this award in his honour.
Dane’s passion was basketball, he lived and breathed it, could not get enough and he loved the Ringwood Celtics community and wore his number 8 jersey proudly.
To be a Dane in the team and within the club is to make everyone feel included, but also equally valued. It’s passing to team mates no matter how new to the team or to the sport they are, no matter how goofy they may be with the ball. It’s cheering your team mates on for not just the big wins but the small ones too. It’s getting to know your team and considering them like family and making sure they know they have a friend in you both on and off the court.
Dane would be honoured by this award and honoured to know who is receiving it. Lili Dodge is someone who shares these same values and is someone Dane would’ve loved to have gotten to know through the club and I guess in a way now kind of does. He would’ve resonated with Lili’s fiery passion for the sport, commitment to perfecting her skills, and loyalty to her team. You deserve this Lili and thank you for what you bring to the club and particularly your teammates”.
