Teagan Rosa Graphic Designer
Freelance Graphic Designer
Hey I’m Teagan and I help small businesses.
+ Marketing materials
+ Websites
+ Logos and branding
Over the last five years of running a business, I've had many people comment on how much they like my minimalistic approach to design.
I mean, sure! I love that minimal vibe too. Just take a look around my home—I like to live quite minimally as a highly sensitive person. Visual clutter is a big trigger for me, and my mentality is - less stuff = less stress.
When it comes to designing marketing materials or social media graphics, I’m not typically aiming for a “minimalistic style”.
You see, my job as a designer, though many think it’s just about making things look pretty, actually goes much deeper. At its core, my job is to take your content and design it in a way that conveys your message in an audience-friendly way. It’s about making your message clear.
The biggest mistake I often see with DIY design is trying to cram in too much copy or too many elements in a small space. This usually results in a cluttered design, but more importantly, it leads to cognitive overload for your audience. When content feels too cluttered, people are more likely to just keep scrolling or skip it altogether because it’s too hard to process. Hello cognitive overload!
In a world where people are bombarded with thousands of pieces of content every day, it’s crucial that your message is presented in a user-friendly way that also captures the vibe you’re going for - so you can grab their attention before you lose it.
So, my top tip: if you’ve spent hours on Canva trying to make a single post work, consider what elements you can take out of the graphic and move to the caption. Do all the finer details need to be in the graphic?
Or, like a friend of mine likes to say, “Let the bakers bake the bread.” I just love that phrase!
Maybe it’s time to outsource your design and stop wasting hours on end over one marketing asset. If this is you, I’m here to help!
My top tip for creating social media graphics for marketing campaigns...
Keep it simple!
The biggest mistake I see businesses make is trying to cram every single detail into the graphic, resulting in a cluttered mess. Remember, the main job of that graphic is to grab your audience's attention.
I'm loving this design I created for the Australian Mushroom Growers Association - Mushrooms in Schools program. We started with an A4 flyer, including all the details, and then worked backwards, stripping back on copy to create striking, eye-catching social media assets.
So, next time you're designing assets to promote your event, keep the graphic simple and eye-catching with a great image, headline, and potentially a subheading, and save the finer details for the caption!
Just a cute little mushroom heading to school!
More on this little character in the coming weeks :)
I've been incredibly fortunate when it comes to gaining new clients. The majority of my work comes from referrals, and for that, I say - Thank you!
Recently, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Nick from Tedee, and I've had the opportunity to design a number of assets for them, ranging from trade show marketing materials to print ads.
One of the beauties of these relationships for my clients is that once we've worked together a few times, the process becomes seamless. Often, they can drop an idea into my inbox, and within a few days, we can achieve a great outcome.
Since I already have their brand guidelines, logos, etc., ex*****on is extremely efficient.
Having been in small business and worked in small business, I know that more often than not, ideas come last minute, especially when trade shows and expos are involved.
I have a number of clients in my database whom I regularly create for, and our working relationships go back to the beginning of my freelance journey. Essentially, I'm an extension of their team, without the overheads of an annual salary.
Could you use a helping hand when it comes to marketing materials, PowerPoint presentations, business cards - the list goes on? Drop me a DM!
Hey Chloe!
Creating this for Chloe was loads of fun!
Her name is presented in a fun and modern serif font, capturing the essence of creativity and individuality. This choice reflects Chloe's unique approach to content strategy and her ability to infuse personality into her clients' brand messaging.
The phrase "Content strategy" is presented in a sleek and sans-serif font, adding a touch of professionalism and symbolizing Chloe's expertise in strategic planning.
The colour palette strikes a balance between professional and vibrant tones, representing trust, stability, energy, creativity, playfulness, communication, and innovation.
The logo mark features a quotation mark that doubles as a speech bubble, symbolising effective communication and Chloe's expertise in crafting engaging narratives.
Overall, this logo concept effectively represents Chloe Elliot's Content Strategy as a dynamic and creative service, skilled in developing connections through strategic and engaging content.
We're both thrilled with the outcome!!!

Well, it's been a minute – or 6 months, to be exact – since my last post.
Last time, I shared an update about breaking my wrist during roller skating training, and here I am, 6 months later, with a metal plate and several pins in my wrist.
I've been busy working behind the scenes on some fantastic projects for my clients. But when it comes to posting my work, I seem to find it overwhelming. Anyone else feel the same?
Anyway, I wanted to share a recent project I completed for Merrihealth – a not-for-profit community health organization with over 70 services ranging from early childhood to dental, mental health support, aged care, chronic pain, allied health, and more.
They attended the Merri-bek Positive Ageing Expo and needed an engaging pull-up banner to promote their Aged Care services.
I'm thrilled to say they loved the outcome! And since then, I've completed several more designs.

Stay tuned for some big business updates and projects coming your way soon!
Hey there, friends!
Time for a little update. So, I had a bit of an adventure over the weekend... I managed to break my right wrist while roller skating (oops!). And here's the ironic part: I'm actually a regular skater and take artistic roller skating classes twice a week. Talk about a twist of fate!
Here's the deal: I've been advised by the doctors that I won't be able to use my dominant hand for a while, to give it the best chance of healing without surgery. Now, as much as I wish I could be a superhero and continue working on amazing projects for all of you, I have to face the reality that typing and designing with just one hand is a tad challenging (okay, maybe more than a tad).
But fear not, my talented friends! There's a silver lining. The doctors say that in the coming weeks, I'll be able to use a mouse, which means I can get back into the creative groove and serve you with my usual flair. So please bear with me during this temporary setback.
In the meantime, I'll be channeling my inner one-handed skater spirit and staying positive. I might not be able to lace up my skates for a little while, but you can bet that I'll be visualizing those graceful moves and counting down the days until I can get back on the rink.
If you have any burning questions or want to discuss future projects, I'm all ears! I'll be here, rocking my one-handed typing skills and dreaming up incredible designs for when I'm back at full power.
Thank you all for your understanding, support, and endless laughter as I navigate this wrist-breaking (pun intended) roller coaster. I can't wait to lace up my skates and show you even more awesomeness when I'm back in action.
Stay tuned for more updates and, hey, keep your fingers crossed (but not too tightly, because mine can't join in the party just.
Catch you soon!
Congratulations to Danielle from Insight 2 Pilates , who opened her brand new business today!
I created her branding back in October of last year, and today, she saw her vision come to life!
What follows logo design? Marketing materials, of course 🤩
Here are her A5 opening flyers.
I look forward to creating many more assets for this small business and watching Danielle grow a lovely community!
If you're in the Sunbury area give her a follow!
This catalogue (all 154 pages!) has consumed my life for the last 2 odd months 😵💫
It's been a huge undertaking to bring it all together, but we've finally crossed the finish line - until more edits are required 😆
Shout out to the wonderful Sandy from Borthwick Foods who collated all the data and worked tirelessly til the end!
I’m excited to unveil the new logo for STIX Restaurant & Bar!
The previous branding featured a Southern American Parrot however we felt it wasn't quite the right fit.
and so, we switch it up for an Australian bird, the rainbow lorikeet. By choosing a native Australian bird, we are celebrating the connection to the local community, Lower Plenty, and the beauty of the Australian landscape.
The new colours have been chosen to draw inspiration from our previous branding while adding a modern twist to bring the brand's visual identity up to date.
Overall, our new logo is a reflection of a fresh start for this venue, which has been closed for some time.
I’m thrilled with the results and wish the new owners all the success in their new venture!

Logo design for Whistler Ourfitters 🇨🇦
A guide to your Whistler holiday experience!
It's no secret I'm a bird nerd!
So when asked to refresh this brand, which already featured a Sun Conure I was up for the challenge!
As this (soon to reopen with new owners) restaurant and bar is located in Lower Plenty, we ditched the South American parrot and opted for a gorgeous (and local) Rainbow Lorikeet. A lovely connection to the community!
More to be revealed soon!

What's the biggest mistake I see when businesses create promotional social media posts?
Cramming too much content in or trying to make the text as large as it possibly can be.
My best advice...
✨ Only include the basic info on the graphic itself. Save the heavy copy/text and unpack all the juicy details in your caption.
✨ The clear space surrounding the elements is almost as important as the elements themselves. What does this mean? Allow space around your text so it can breathe. Having text running margin to margin and as large as possible will not result in a more professional result.
✨ When in doubt keep it super simple! Don't try and overcomplicate your design. Simple always wins!
✨ Stick to your brand!!! A BIG ONE. Yes, there are loads of great templates on Canva but P L E A S E make sure you are sticking to your brand colours and fonts.
✨ Hire someone to do it for you! If you find yourself spending hours trying to design a single post, you're better off hiring a designer and spending your time more efficiently!
I hope this helps and if you would like a hand designing some graphics feel free to reach out!
A sneak peek at a brand I was delighted to create mid last year.
This here is the Logo Mark.
A logo mark is an icon/symbol that’s part of the primary logo. It can be used in places where the primary or secondary logo does not fit, or as a design element. Perfect as a social media profile picture.
It represents a number, balance, mindfulness and connection to the body through movement.
Any guesses?
