The weekend just flew by with our Halloween Cross Stitch retreat in Hobart! Thank you to Brendon & Karen of Fox and Rabbit Designs for making the trek to Tasmania as guest designers. Everyone had a blast and I've had some lovely feedback which makes all the hard work worth the effort. Thank you to all the attendees for getting in the vibe and contributing to such a wonderful weekend. Now to organise the next one ;)

Due to a cancellation there is one space available at the upcoming retreat in 2 weeks in Hobart - please let me know if you are able to attend! An exclusive design plus a weekend of stitching is the only reason you need ;)

A reminder that Tasmania will be on Daylight Savings time from Sunday 6th October. Will be nice to enjoy a bit of daylight after the shop closes each day :)

July 30th is World Embroidery Day! I hope that everyone can enjoy some form of embroidery today.
I found this simple definition: Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to stitch thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. In modern days, embroidery is usually seen on hats, clothing, blankets, and handbags. Embroidery is available in a wide variety of thread or yarn colour. It is often used to personalize gifts or clothing items.

Some of the basic techniques or stitches of the earliest embroidery are chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, and cross stitch. Those stitches remain the fundamental techniques of hand embroidery today.
