We designed this Stowport project on a beautiful rural property for a young growing family. Our key design concept was to provide a diverse mix of spaces that could be adapted over time. The use of natural hardwood and stone creates a sympathetic aesthetic that ties in with the surrounds.

Sandy Bay Renovations and Extensions:
Our latest design to be completed are these major renovations and extensions to a very tired 1950’s weatherboard located in Sandy Bay. Our approach was to completely overhaul the internal layout, and add extensions, in order to create a generous family home that is well planned and extremely liveable. The heart of the home is an open plan living area with a serious kitchen for entertaining, particularly when combined with a 3000 bottle wine cellar. The design focuses on a sympathetic interpretation of the original home, using a variety of soft materials and colour palette.

Beautiful summer weather here in Tassie has us reflecting on our design for this East Coast holiday home. Our key concept for this project was to capitalise on the virtual waterfront site and provide a variety of sheltered spaces that capture the stunning views. A material palette of concrete, timber, glass and monument cladding provides a rich textural experience.

A stunning waterfront site on Hobart's Eastern Shore was the location of a storm-damaged shack. As the entire structure needed to be rebuilt due to the extensive damage, our design concept was to ensure elements of the old shack were represented in a new and sympathetic dwelling through the use of forms, materials and colours. Greater connection to the beach was also a key concept which was achieved through extensive glazing and the merging of indoor and outdoor spaces.

West Hobart Extensions and Renovations:
Our brief for this project was to design considerable renovations and extensions to an existing run-down brick veneer, in order to transform it into a family home. Key design principles included ensuring there was a strong connection between the upper level living areas and the expansive gardens, as well as incorporating the city and bush views from the majority of internal spaces. Rearranging the internal spaces, combined with extensions to the rear garden, provides a more efficient use of space and the extra volume required by the family.

We were engaged to design this family home, which has recently been constructed on Hobart's Eastern Shore. In order to capitalise on the sites breath-taking southern views, we used expansive areas of glass on the south side of the home. Northern glazing, as well as extensive use of internal thermal mass and insulation, creates a passively heated home. Whilst the colour palette is minimal, a variety of rich external textures ads depth and warmth to its composition.

Our latest design to be constructed is a family home located on a stunning waterfront site on Hobart’s Eastern Shore. Large expanses of glass capitalise on the views, whilst a north-facing courtyard ensures protection from the elements whilst encouraging high levels of passive solar-gain. Highlight windows on the north allow for deep levels of winter sun pe*******on for natural light and heating during the colder months.
Landscaping is underway and we look forward to showing you the exteriors of this project soon.

Completed in 2021, our Design Brief for this project was the demolition and complete rebuild of a home located on a stunning Eastern Shore site which has incredible views over the river to the city and mountain. Our design focused on our core ideas of simple, timeless and elegant aesthetics which provide an understated outcome that focuses on the site and view as the feature. Pavilions of timber, glass and stone provides for a variety of textures and intricacies at differing levels and facilitate privacy to the street with expansive views at the rear of the property.

Two years ago, this home on Tasmania's East Coast was completed and we are thrilled with the end result. Whilst views to the water were paramount, an important consideration was protection from the weather in order to ensure year-round use of the outdoors spaces. Our design resulted in an internal courtyard, that still boasts incredible views through the extensive glazing of the main living wing of the house. External materials include standing seem colorbond matt cladding, natural hardwood and concrete panels. Internally the theme is continued with polished concrete, rich timbers and raw steel used in the extensive joinery. The result is a richly textured and cozy space which looks out to a stunning vista.

Constructed in 2018, the aim for this project was to dramatically modify and extend an existing waterfront home on Hobart's Eastern Shore. A complete renovation was undertaken with the key features being the addition of several cathedral-ceiling extensions with glass gables that all point to the stunning waterfront views.

The Cambridge House was completed in 2017. Our key Design Concept for this project was to create an extremely simple, yet sophisticated and elegant home, that focused on the site and materials as it's feature. Large expanses of glass create a strong connection between the interior and exterior. A natural palette of hardwood, drystone walls, marble and glass provide a timeless aesthetic. Whilst the upper level cantilevers provide a simple dramatic effect, extensive detailing, engineering and coordination was required to make such a challenging feature look so effortless.

Our latest project to receive Planning Approval is a demolition and rebuild located on a stunning water front site. Our design concept focuses around two double story pavilions which flank a private courtyard and infinity edge pool, which all look out over the sand and sea. A double-height kitchen space is central to the pavilions and serves as a dramatic link to each side of the home.

Our latest design to be constructed is a large family home located on Hobart's Eastern Shore. As is often the case in Hobart, southern water and mountain views are in contrast to the northern winter sun. A series of steel and glass wings combine to form the home, which allow for maximum winter solar gain, whilst capitalising on the stunning views from site. Monument steel accents combine with charred timber cladding and large expanses of glass to form a refined material palette.
We are thrilled to see this wonderful family finely enjoying their much deserved home.

One of our latest project to be completed is a major extension and renovation to an existing mid-century home on one of Hobart's greatest waterfront sites. Our main design brief was to rebuild the home to the highest of energy efficient standards, whilst also providing a luxurious and private retreat in an elegant and understated manner. Capitalising on the waterfront site by encapsulating the expansive views was paramount to the success of the brief. Whilst the renovation is now complete, we are continuing to work on extensive landscaping, underpinning and civil works for this exciting project.

Located on the sand dunes with the most incredible view, our key design concept for this project was to create an extremely strong relationship between the indoor spaces and the stunning waterfront location. Our philosophy of simple, sophisticated and timeless design provides a classic aesthetic of the highest standard.

Our brief for this project was to design a major makeover and full renovation to an existing waterfront brick veneer, as well as extend the dwelling substantially. A striking palette of black steel, hardwood, painted brick and extensive use of glass, brings the house into the current day, yet also provides a timeless aesthetic.

Stowport Design:
Built on a beautiful rural acreage on the North West Coast at Stowport near Burnie, this multiple award winning family home was designed for a young growing family with a view to adapt over time. A number of living zones cater for a variety of functions and provide different character throughout the home. The use of natural stone and timber provide warmth and texture throughout, and merge the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.
