Another round of preserving my home grown produce. This time it was rhubarb, ginger and chili jam. Yum 😁
Noble preserves maybe???
Not a quilt but definitely one of my loves.
I still had an abundance of little tomatoes growing in my garden along with some chilies ready to pick. I really enjoy snacking on crackers with cheese and relish, made even better when it's home made tomato and chili relish. I don't think this batch is going to last very long.

I stitched up this simple zip purse and filled it with some pretty goodies to use a quick birthday gift. I love it when the wrapping is part of the gift.

Happy Star Wars Day. May the 4th be with you 😉
A couple more drawstring gift bags. I had forgotten about these ones until rummaging (oh I love that word) through my craft room and found all they needed to be finished was the string. I mean, what's a drawstring bag without the drawstring? So I quickly threaded some string through and called them done. I'll keep these ones safe until I need a gift bag where the wrapping becomes part of the gift.

How am I supposed to turn the blanket when I get to the end of the row with him is sitting on it? A beautiful autumn morning to take in the view, crochet a few rows and solve the problems of the world with my bestie.
From the tiniest scraps and fun op shop finds to a useful and pretty zip pouch treasure.
Every part if this pouch has been rescued from landfill.
All the tiny pieces of colourful fabric were literally in the bin. They were off-cuts from trimming fabric on the way to making the next quilt or bag, they were seams of shirts I purchased from op shops for the purpose of harvesting the fabric to use in other projects, sparking gold ribbons once tied around a gift and clippings of yarn and thread. But as I saw them sitting there on the bin I saw their beauty and just couldn't let them go to waste.
Then I had a plan, a vision.
I wanted to make something beautiful out of junk but it had to also be useful.
I gathered my other supplies. All rescued from op shops. A perfectly good orange zip, a pretty piece of lace curtain, half a roll of red thread and a few other bits of fabric to use for the wrist strap and lining. That's when the creativity began. And this zip pouch is the result.
We can't keep digging holes for our rubbish. We need to think of ways to keep using what we already have and give our rubbish a new life. We need to be better stewards of this beautiful planet God has given us.
I feel very satisfied with the result of this mad idea for true sustainable sewing. I already have another crazy idea brewing to keep more precious junk out of landfill.

I may have gone mad but I do have a plan and I'm feeling very excited about using up these otherwise useless pieces of scrap and some goodies I found on today's op shop adventure.

When your son puts a new string on his yoyo and mummy claims the old one to crochet into the current project. This blanket will have stories to tell.
This project started out on a different journey but I just was quite right so I simply changed direction, made it into a zip pouch, added a few goodies and voila! A teacher Christmas gift.
I used fabric from an upcycled men's shirt, a pair of my son's old shorts, denim jeans, op shopped fabric and a beautiful bird fabric as a feature.
Here are a few of the Bible covers I was asked to make before Christmas. They were given as Christians presents. One on these bibles had been well read and loved so it was falling apart at the spine so I made sure the cover wrapped around and was held in place with a button to keep everything secure.
I also made a few other Bible covers but I forgot to take photos.
Time to do something with this pile of goodness. I've been collecting mens cotton dress shirts for a while and now I have just the right mix. Although I won't say no if I see more that I like. I'm not in any hurry to finish but I do have an end purpose in mind.
Another Christmas present that had to wait to be shown until now as to not ruin the surprise for the Star Wars fan.
I still had some Grogu fabric leftover from the back of the Grogu quilt I made mid last year so I put this zip pouch together as a little extra Christmas gift.
Not a quilt but no less Noble. Here I have combined my love of using thrifted items and my enjoyment of crocheting. I have not paid retail for any of the yarn in these baskets. I have used either yarn I have found in op shops, the tip shop or yarn that has been passed on to my when people have been clearing out the cupboards.
I'm still at a basic level of crocheting and get confused by patterns but I was able to quickly put one basket together making it up and learning as I went along. I had so much fun I immediately started the next one refining my technique.
I think it's obvious which one I made first 😉
I can definitely see more crocheted baskets in my future.
A few more pre Christmas makes. It seems little drawstring bags made a feature this year. These little bags are fun to make and are great to fill with gift cards or other goodies where the wrapping is part of the gift.
I missed an actual Christmas greeting but here are a few of the many things I made in the lead up to Christmas. More photos of my other projects to come.
I've really had my sew on lately. Probably has something to do with it being Christmas😉🎄
Today's finished project it a Bible bag for my boy. Of course I had to combine his love of animals with his love of all things camo.
I made a simple drawstring bag, boxed the corners and added straps for handles. He did wander past while I was making it but he'll have to wait until Christmas to see the finished product.
More photos soon of the other things I've been sewing.
And here she is. From a pile of lace, linens, calicos, textures and patterns to a drawstring gift bag. I love making these bags to fill with goodies when the wrapping becomes part of the gift.
I promise I'll clean up when I'm finished. Something pretty is happening.
I just couldn't bare to throw away even the smallest of scrap fabric but I didn't need to keep these little space takers. So piece by piece, in between other projects I stitched them all together and made them into a bag.
Another birthday party, another gift bag. I love making these and I love it that the wrapping is also the gift.
And here he is. The Grogu quilt is finished and ready to be snuggled.
This is the first time I have done a quilt of this style, completely different to the traditional quilt blocks.
Up close is just a whole lot of square but when you step back the picture comes together.
For the back I used some Grogu print and surrounded it with fun solid fabric.
I quilted along each seam with wavy lines.
Happy belated birthday sister.
Just hanging with my best friend and stitching down the last bit of the Grogu quilt binding.
Not long now until the big Grogu reveal.
Pins, pins, pins! Not my favorite but it's an essential part of the quilting process.
