Lees Fencing SPEEDWAY KARTS

A super fast kart A main produced some of the best kart racing seen in a very long time. The front pack went wheel to wheel turning 11 second laps and not giving an inch. The hard luck story was new comer Brad Lees who was sitting in a podium position until about 3 laps to go when he spun the kart and was forced to the rear of the field.

Local star Bailey Carter showed the rest how its done to take a comfortable victory on home turf over the 2 Victorian young guns.

Microsprint Mania 270/450CC MICROSPRINTS

In what was one of the most entertaining races of the night, Jason Summers let 18 of the 20 lap final with cars with the pack hounding him every lap. Jackson Isaacs made a dive for the lead and unsettled Summers which was enough to let Peter Blake sneak through also. Summers could only watch in horror as his championship slipped away.

Our next schedueled race meeting is Round 3 of the Taylor's Outdoor Power Equipment track championship on December 9th.

This will be the last event of 2023 as we have a few weeks off to unwind.

Andrew Stevens claimed his first ever POWRi Racing Australia main event win last night in round 2 of the Taylor's Outdoor Power Equipment speedbowl track championship.

In what was a drama filled but thrilling race on less than ideal track conditions, early race leader Tomas Partington and Stevens came together mid race with Partington unable to restart.

Tomas was very animated as he exited his Turn One Motorsport machine and had a few choice words for Stevens.

This showed the raw emotion and desire to win every driver has as they roll out onto the track to do battle.

The podium was rounded out by Dan Biner in second, and Jamie Hall third, after Cooper Howe and Matt smith came together on the last lap leaving Howe upside down on the last corner.

The Freight Haul junior Microsprint event was taken out by young Victorian gun Aston Rodriguez, followed by Queensland's Cooper Flynn in second and local star Bailey Carter home for third.

Fwordspeedshop 270/450 Microsprints put on a fantastic race with multiple lead and positing changes throughout the event, Peter Blake once again claimed the win ahead of Josh Biner and Lachlan Issacs.

The feature race of The Plumber .Plumbing & Gas. KARTSTARS super series was postponed due to the track conditions after days of rain in the lead up.

Its finally time Hunter Valley it's race day @ The Bowl!!!

Round1 of the Taylor's Outdoor Power Equipment POWRi Racing Australia track championship along with the Kartstars super series presented by The Plumber .Plumbing & Gas.

Add in the 270/450 Microsprints, JR 600cc Microsprints and the NSW GP Midgets its a jam packed night, and one not to be missed.

Spectators gates will be open from 4.00pm with racing from 5.30pm

One of the most anticipated entries for the Taylor's Outdoor Power Equipment Lake Liddell Speedbowl track championships.

He's usually behind the wheel of the Graham Racing Development speedcar, and is one of the most accomplished Speedcars - Australia's Mighty Midgets drivers in the country, but this weekend Nathan Smee makes his POWRi debut driving for legendary Sydney car owner Edward Dark in the immaculate and iconic EH DARK & SON number 2.

Nathan and Edward have made the most of off season practice events and have shown amazing speed from the word go.

He will certainly be one to watch this Saturday night @ The Bowl!!!

EXTEND IT!

It’s been a busy off season at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway and we’ve been continuing to future proof our venue with upgrades and improvements both above and under the ground along with all the normal spring cleans of all our buildings, upgraded and fresh signage and general landscaping of our garden and surrounds.

During a recent track inspection, it was discovered that our secondary spectator fence was under the required minimum standard of 1m. So the fence has been extended and we’ve fixed all the boundary fences around the entire venue.

Underneath the ground, we’ve run new electrical and water pipe down to the bore (300m) which should comfortably see us through the next few decades. We’ve also got a new electronic timing transponder loop.

Stay tuned for more improvements, as we’ve got pretty cool things to show you during the weeks ahead in the lead up to our first practice night (Saturday 9 September). Yep, only just over 2 weeks away!

Tickets for Thunder on the Downs being held at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway over the two opening weekends of our season, go on sale on Friday, 25 August at 9am AEST.

With $100,000+ in prize money up grabs over the 3 nights of racing, it’s sure to attract an almighty field to Toowoomba to kick off our season.

Online tickets are discounted and cheaper than what they will be at the gate.

For the second weekend of Thunder (30 September & 1 October), only the early bird discounted 2-night passes will go on sale initially. Single Night passes for the second weekend will only go on sale closer to the event, if the event doesn’t sell out beforehand.

ULTIMATE SPEEDCAR CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS WITH MORE MEGA MONEY

After a hugely successful series last season, the GSA Advanced Machining Ultimate Speedcar Championship returns to Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway.

The series will be once again contested over 4 action packed rounds that each pays out a $7,500 A Main purse every night. This is made up of $3,000 to win, $2,000 for second and $1,000 for third at all four rounds of the series that kicks off on boxing night.

The series dates are as followed:

R1 - 26 December 2023
R2 - 7 January 2024 (SUN - Red Hot Summer)
R3 - 24 February 2024
GF - 13 April 2024

Lake Liddell Speedbowl, The home of small car speedway

It was great to have Aidan and his family trek to our shop on the way home from another trophy night on the weekend. Another step towards an experience we are just as excited about as he is. Their enthusiasm was fantastic and this lad really does carry himself very well. Polite, well mannered and did his homework prior. 1 lap 10 laps it won’t matter he is worth the effort 100%. And if anyone was wondering his mum has given the go ahead and that is mostly for ourselves the important part of our first meeting. Next weekend will see us ramp up towards a first practice in Toowoomba real soon

DARK TIMES AHEAD

Legendary Sydney based car owner, Edward Dark is set to end his 20 year absence from the speedway pit area when he puts his immaculate and iconic yellow number 2 wingless 600cc Microsprint on the track at Lake Liddell Speedbowl next Saturday afternoon with superstar Nathan Smee at the wheel.

Edward who was responsible for the world famous Gary Rush victories at the last ever Sydney Showground events has shown plenty of interest in the POWRI Microsprints over the last 12-18 months and what he saw was enough for him to dust off his overalls and get trackside yet again.

When quizzed about his return to racing and what attracted him to the POWRI ranks his reply was short and simple.

"Gives me an interest and I still have a passion for racing . I think Lake Liddell Speedbowl has the correct approach to racing " The idea is to go broke as slowly as possible not at 100 mph " The cost of a Speedcar is out of reach for most people now"

This isn't the first time Edward and Nathan have joined forces with Nathan strapping into the Dark midget way back in the 1999/2000 season.

When we asked Edward why Nathan again the response was simple.

"He's fast" and knows how to get the job done.

We are genuinely thrilled to have these guys on board, and this moment holds great significance for speedway enthusiasts Australia wide as they eagerly anticipate the return of the iconic #2 to the racetrack.

ITS WADES WORLD!

One of the best known Speedway names across the country is Wade Aunger and it is for that reason that the PSW are proud to announce that he and his iconic voice will form a huge part of the PSW in 2024!

Wade has done it all in Speedway, starting in WA and quickly expanding to work across the Nation at our biggest events. In recent years he has even dipped his toe in the water internationally with huge success, so having him join the PSW is quite simply huge!

"Wade was the missing piece of the puzzle as we put together PSW once again" says Lee Redmond. "I have known him for years; his commentary style is exactly what we want for the series and we know that he will bring the best out of everyone who joins us on the tour this year."

Wade is also thrilled to be part of the PSW, an opportunity he jumped at:

"Speedcars have always lit my fire. My first ever regular column in the Claremont Speedway program as a sixteen-year-old was ‘Wild and Wingless’ that I wrote for WASDA in the late eighties. "Over the years I have been privileged to drive cars loaned to me in practice sessions from Wayne Cover and Darren and Troy Jenkins to name a few. "When I heard that Lee Redmond was getting together with Trav Mills and Andy Pearce to bring back PSW I knew that I wanted to announce it. There is just so much new exciting talent around the country and some fantastic teams. Lee, Trav and Andy understand what entertainment is all about and how to present racing to the fans. The fact they are also racers themselves means that they get and understand the best of both worlds.

"The tracks that the PSW is visiting are fantastic for Speedcar racing too so the spectacle of some of the best teams and drivers going at it is going to be wild. I can’t wait!”

Take a look at Dan Biner in action! He's heating up that right rear tire during a heat race in March this year. The sun was setting, casting a beautiful golden light over turns 1 and 2.
I managed to snap a pic just as Dan was going through the turns, and the light hit the steam coming off the tyre perfectly, making it look super cool.

It's moments like these that make motorsport photography so exciting!

Also on the calendar is the 2nd annual Jettco Developments POWRi Nationals, A NSW title & the Microsprint Masters also makes a return.

Outlaw karts & Grand Prix midgets are also set to tackle the bowl over the 23/24 racing season.

As always we love having the kids involved and Junior karts will be at most events learning their craft and having FUN.

Any other racing classes wishing to secure dates at the bowl are asked to reach out and we will accommodate you where possible.

Well while were away checking out the Aussie Speedcar Title and well done to Aussie lad Kaidon Brown for the win our mates were up to their usual no good 😂😂😂 last night at Archerfield. Dave Chalky Collins collected the win with Wayne Corbett in second and backing up again was Trent Usher to fill the podium. Great job again from all and Well done gents !!

Another meeting with over 20 cars and quality racing throughout the night was topped off by Dave Collins collecting another feature win for season 2017/18. Wayne Corbett finished 2nd and collects the Hard Charger award after starting 15th. The podium was rounded out by Trent Usher. The drivers and cars have got a busy few weeks coming up, with a trundle down to Lismore next week, before returning to Brisbane the week after.
