The Gig economy Reporting of Incidents Tool (GigReports) 26/05/2023

Attention Gig Workers in Australia

Download our GigReports app to help make gig work safer for you and other gig workers. You can confidentially report road safety incidents (e.g. crashes and near misses) and personal safety incidents or thefts via the app. We will analyse the data and provide summarised, de-identified analyses and recommendations back to the gig worker community, gig economy platforms and government bodies to help them make evidence-based decisions around improving safety.

The first 100 participants who register for GigReports before πŸ‘πŸ 𝐌𝐚𝐲 πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ‘ and use the app to report how many kilometres they travelled doing gig work over 2 consecutive weeks will receive $πŸ“πŸŽ (note, kilometres can be reported for past weeks).

In addition to incident reporting through the app, being part of the GigReports community will give you access to regular surveys about your gig work experiences and your use of the GigReports app with prize draws up to $100.

You can find more information about the research project here: https://www.usc.edu.au/research/centre-for-human-factors-and-sociotechnical-systems/the-gig-economy-reporting-of-incidents-tool-gigreports

A comparison of hazard perception and situation awareness among novice and expert cyclists in different road environments. 15/01/2020

The University of the Sunshine Coast is conducting research to compare the hazard perception and situation awareness among novice and expert cyclists in different road environments. The research findings will provide new insights into the differences in hazard perception between novice and experienced cyclists which will help to identify recommendations for education and training programs to improve cycling safety.

Using a low fidelity bicycle simulator, you will cycle at a low to moderate set speed, whilst watching videos incorporating various traffic scenarios and hazards. The frequency, type and speed of hazards identified will be measured and you will be asked to wear a non-invasive eye tracker, which will scan your eye movements, and to β€˜think aloud’ during the study.
The session will take approximately one hour to complete.

You will receive a $20 Coles-Myer gift card for completing the study.

The study will be conducted at the University of the Sunshine Coast campus at Sippy Downs, Queensland, Australia.
To take part in this study you must be free from previous or existing health conditions that would result in discomfort whilst cycling. Please follow this link to complete a short health screening tool and survey.
