Happy New Year everyone.
A big thank-you to all our volunteers (all 18 of you) who turned out today for our working bee and Range Officers meeting. Without these valuable people, clubs and organisation like ours grind to a halt.
SSAA Sunshine Coast now has roughly 4000 members but as with all clubs the work falls to less than 1% of the membership to do the work and keep the club moving.
The 2024 calendar has been on the website for some time now so please go and have a look.
If you are one of the many who have never put your hand up to help please consider doing so. Many of our long term and older members are looking at hanging up their hats, which is well deserved, and simply taking a backwards step. Remember, we are a club and all clubs require help from their members to remain functional. Simple things like just emptying rubbish bins helps to “spread the load.”
We are in need of more Range Officers especially who are willing to come out on public shooting days to help run the range. Without RO’s the range simply cannot open so if you are interested, please contact the club secretary or Chief Safety officer and they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Be aware, we must have a minimum of 3 Range Officers present in order for the range to open fully for shooting. We have in the past not met this requirement which results in the range not being able to open for practice/open mornings. Please understand that this is a requirement under our Range Standing orders and is not negotiable. We are all volunteers and as such abusive or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. If we have a larger pool of people upon which to draw the job gets a whole lot easier.
Also, a word of note as per our Standing Range orders: No fi****ms are to be brought into the range complex until an RO is present. When bringing fi****ms into the complex from your vehicles they are to be removed from bags/cases, actions are to be open with muzzles up. The use of Empty Chamber Indicators (ECIs) is strongly encouraged but not compulsory on our range, they are however compulsory for Form 33 shooters using club fi****ms.
🙂
A big thank-you to our 15 volunteers who turned up to help at todays working bee. A lot got done by very few people and the range looks a treat.
