Do you suffer from neck and shoulder pain?

I know I do! This is my shoulder (above) when it's tight, knotty, and painful. It restricts my range of motion and sometimes causes nasty headaches or migraines.

Massage and Dry Needling are 2 types of treatment that I have found highly effective to reduce pain and restore my movement in no time 🙌

Dry Needling for Muscle Pain and Discomfort

Myofascial trigger points may be felt within a muscle as a nodule or painful lump/knot and can be painful during movement, or highly sensitive in response to compression.

Dry needling may be used to treat these painful muscle knots (trigger points), as well as:

• headaches
• neck pain
• shoulder pain
• jaw pain and TMJ
• buttock and leg pain (sciatica)
• tendinitis
• arm/elbow pain (carpal tunnel, tennis elbow)

Trigger point dry needling involves inserting a dry needle into the hyperirritable spot within the muscle. It is called “dry” needling because there is no solution injected.

As the needle is being inserted, expect to feel a sharp sting initially. You may also feel a dull ache or notice the muscle twitch as the needle enters the muscle.

The ache and local twitch response are a good sign. Research shows that the twitch response decreases muscle contraction as the trigger point is released, improving flexibility and decreasing pain over time.

If you suffer from muscle pain and tension or any of the above conditions, dry needling combined with manual therapy (massage) may be an effective form of treatment for you!
