Did you know that your posture can affect more than just your physical health?
Maintaining proper posture ensures that your spine is aligned correctly, allowing your nervous system to function optimally. When your spinal column is not functioning well, it can irritate the nervous system, leading to interference in nerve signals from the brain to the body manifesting in symptoms that may include (but not limited to) pain, low energy, poor digestion and even poor bowel movements.
We experience those who get regular chiropractic are way more mindful of their posture and the benefits associated with a stronger posture.

[20231026 Ride Revolution HIT Vol. 09 & 11 with Little L]
Hey Ride Rev family. It has been a bunch of weeks but we got back into the Ride Revolution Ranch and filmed with Coach Leesa, one of the OG HIT Coaches.
We felt so proud of Coach Leesa for stepping confidently into this filming (with all the nerves that come along with presenting with me) and totally smashing her role as a Ride Revolution HIT Coach. Coach Leesa is flying the Ride Revolution HIT Series flag at Fernwood Browns Plains (correct me if I got that wrong Leesa).
It was the first time I've done HIT Vol 09 & 11 in a very long time and was an epic training session that targets speed, power, and strength. Watch out for Ride Revolutions unique Punctuation Training, HIT Volume 11 is where we officially launched that training variable over 2-years ago!
We are training on the amazing Body Bikes (BODY BIKE Australia - Indoor Cycle Specialists, Bike International).
Enjoy Real Training to Awesome Music.
Much Love Coach Leesa and Coach Adz xo
I did another Podcast! This one with my nutrition coach Paul Hooper, owner and operator of Paul's Body Engineering.
Paul has recently started his chiropractic journey at Silverback Chiropractic and wanted to dive into what Chiropractic is, the difference between chiropractic and physiotherapy, the role chiropractic care plays in managing sleep issues and who I would love to have dinner with.

"Achieve more in our sanctuary"
-
Is another of Silverback Chiropractic's core values.
-
We know patients in our practice are healthier through chiropractic care than those not under chiropractic care. So we totally need every body to benefit from chiropractic care. Tell your friends and family.
-
Our sanctuary is a safe environment. We do this by respecting that life is meant to be an amazing, positive and remarkable experience.
-
This demonstrates that our community truly cares and supports a pursuit for a happier, healthier life. In a safe environment we heal, we grow and we succeed.
-
We invite your to be part of our sanctuary.
-
"We are better together"
-
This is one of Silverback Chiropractic's core values.
-
Chiropractic care honours the innate intelligence of the body, the natural order that pursues a state of health.
-
Our community is best when united. The pursuit of health honours the process of fully experiencing life.
-
When we each take responsibility for our respective roles we achieve the best health outcomes.
-
"I'll take care of me for you, if you take care of you for me." Jim Rohn
-
We each have a responsibility to take care of ourselves so we can achieve more together.
-
Patients most often look to chiropractors (and other health practitioners too) to "FIX THEM". One practitioner "fixing" a patient is a fallacy. That said the chiropractic adjustment facilitates a healthier nervous system. The nervous system is the most important organ system with a role that coordinates healing and repair as well as directing all other systems to perform at their best.
-
We'll do our job as chiropractors and patients do their job to pursue a healthier way of life.
-
As a patient, you have several responsibilities when it comes to your healthcare and the results you achieve.
-
Communication: One of the most important responsibilities you have as a patient is to communicate effectively with your healthcare providers. This includes being honest about your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle habits. Clear communication can help ensure that you receive the best care.
-
Compliance: It's essential that you follow your chiropractors recommendations for care. These recommendations are based on your health goals and your examination results. This includes attending the scheduled appointments, performing the corrective exercises, breaking bad habits and making any necessary lifestyle changes. Failure to comply with your care plan can negatively impact your health outcomes.
-
Self-Care: Taking care of your health doesn't stop when you leave the doctor's office. You have a responsibility to engage in self-care practices that promote your physical and mental well-being. This includes eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, managing stress, and avoiding risky behaviours such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption.
-
Monitoring: You should monitor your health status and report any changes or concerns to your healthcare provider. This includes keeping track of symptoms, monitoring vital signs (such as blood pressure or blood sugar). As well as introduction of new behaviours, dietary changes and emotional stressors.
-
Advocacy: As a patient, you have the right to advocate for your own health and wellbeing. This may involve asking questions, or expressing concerns about unsolicited advice from colleagues and doctor google about your care.
-
Ultimately, the responsibility for achieving positive health outcomes rests with both the patient and the healthcare provider. By taking an active role in your care and working collaboratively with your healthcare team, you can help ensure the best possible results for your health.
-
One of Silverback Chiropractics Values is:
-
'We are better together'
-
Behind this value we acknowledge that our community is best when united. The pursuit of health honours the process of fully experiencing life.
-
When we each take responsibility for our respective roles we can achieve the best health outcomes.
-
That means as a patient it is your responsibility to follow the recommendations for care that are based on your health goals and your exam findings. So get adjustments in rhythm, break bad habits and perform the corrective exercises for predictable outcomes.
-
As a chiropractic team our responsibility is to provide remarkable chiropractic care, identify the bad habits and recommend the best corrective exercises for predictable outcomes. Our responsibility is also to provide a safe environment where humans can be vulnerable and thrive simultaneously.
-
It's easy to fall into the trap of blaming external factors for our health issues, but taking accountability for our health can have amazing results.
-
When we take ownership of our health, we are more likely to make healthy choices that benefit our body and mind. We prioritise exercise, healthy eating, chiropractic care and self-care, which can lead to a happier and healthier life. We also acknowledge our own role in creating and maintaining our health and take steps to make positive changes.
-
Being accountable for our health also means that we are willing to accept the consequences of our actions. We understand that our health is the result of our daily habits and choices, and we take responsibility for any negative outcomes. This motivates us to make positive changes and stay on track towards our health goals.
-
Take charge of your health and live your best life. Start by taking accountability for your health. Work with a health care practitioner like your chiropractor to keep you accountable. Set goals, make a plan, and hold yourself accountable for your progress.
-
The Silverback Chiropractic team attended the Remarkable Practice seminar a couple weeks ago and worked on understanding our respective roles in the practice. The learnings apply to patient care too.
-
Accountability and responsibility are important concepts to understand and while the differences are subtle they are very important. Accountability and responsibility are two related concepts, but they have distinct differences.
-
Responsibility refers to the duties and obligations that a person has to fulfil in a particular role or when performing a task. It involves being reliable and dependable, and accepting the consequences of one's actions or decisions.
-
Accountability, on the other hand, is the willingness to take ownership of one's actions or decisions and to be answerable for their consequences. It involves being responsible for the outcomes of one's actions, whether they are positive or negative, and being willing to accept the consequences of those outcomes.
-
Rephrased, responsibility is the obligation to do something, while accountability is the willingness to accept the consequences of one's actions or decisions.
-
For example, healthcare practitioners are responsible for providing quality care to their patients, while being accountable means that they are willing to take responsibility for their actions and decisions, and accept the consequences of any positive or negative outcomes.
-
Patients have a responsibility to actively participate in their own healthcare, while being accountable means that they are willing to take responsibility for the outcomes of their actions or decisions related to their health.
-
In summary, responsibility is about fulfilling duties and obligations, while accountability is about taking ownership of one's actions and accepting the consequences of those actions.
-
The team at Silverback Chiropractic are all-in! Question is are you ready to take your health to the next level? There is no time like now to make an all-in commitment to your health through chiropractic care!
-
Chiropractic care is not about cracking your back - it's about whole body wellness (eggs crack, politicians manipulate, chiropractors ADJUST!). By adjusting your spine and facilitating a healthier nervous system, chiropractic care can help to improve your overall health and wellbeing. It can also help to reduce pain, improve mobility, and reduce the risk of future injuries.
-
But to truly experience the benefits of chiropractic care, you need to make an all-in commitment. This means attending regular appointments, following your chiropractor's advice, and making lifestyle changes that support your overall health.
-
By committing to chiropractic care, you are taking control of your health and making a positive change in your life. You are investing in yourself and your future, and setting yourself up for a healthier and happier life.
-
So, are you ready to make an all-in commitment to chiropractic care? Let's do this!
Are you feeling stressed or anxious?
-
Crocodile breathing may be just what you need! This simple breathing technique involves lying on your stomach and taking deep breaths while resting your forehead on your hands. Not only does it promote relaxation and reduce stress, but it can also improve digestion and blood circulation. Give it a try and experience the benefits of crocodile breathing for yourself!
-
Begin in the prone posture by positioning yourself face down, so that your stomach is on the floor with your forehead on your hands, both palms down, one covering the other. Make sure the chest and arms are relaxed, and you are as "flat" as you can get; your neck should be relaxed and comfortable. You should feel that you are on your chest not on the edge of your ribs.
-
1. Breathe in through the nose and feel the air move down past the chest into the "stomach". When this happens, you will feel the abdomen push out against the ground and laterally, this should happen naturally without you forcing your stomach out.
-
2. Take a nasal inhalation and exhalation.
-
3. Nasal inhalation should be a low, slow 3 seconds
-
4. Then a brief pause
-
5. Nasal exhalation should be slow and full 4-6 seconds
-
6. Then a longer pause (2-3 seconds)
-
7. Then the next breath cycle
-
8. The air should expand in a 360-degree fashion filling the “cylinder” of the abdomen.
-

Much love Dr Adam and the Silverback Chiropractic team.
The quote "Breathing correctly is the key to better fitness, muscle strength, stamina and athletic endurance" by Dr. Michael Yessis highlights the importance of proper breathing techniques in enhancing physical performance.
-
When we breathe, our lungs take in oxygen, which is transported to the muscles and organs in our body. Oxygen is essential for the functioning of our muscles and helps to produce energy, which is required for physical activity.
-
By breathing correctly, we can increase the amount of oxygen that our body takes in, leading to improved fitness, muscle strength, stamina, and athletic endurance. Correct breathing techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing, can also help to reduce fatigue and prevent muscle soreness and injury during exercise.
-
In addition, proper breathing can also help to improve mental focus and concentration during physical activity. By focusing on our breath and controlling it, we can calm our mind, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase our overall performance.
-
Therefore, by emphasizing the importance of breathing correctly, Dr. Michael Yessis highlights the key role that proper breathing techniques play in enhancing physical performance and overall fitness.
-
Breath-work is an under utilised exercise or practice when one is feeling stressed or anxious. There are a variety of breathing techniques that facilitate the improved use of the diaphragm, the major muscle in breathing.
Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing or deep breathing, is a technique that involves consciously breathing by expanding your diaphragm, rather than breathing shallowly from the chest. This type of breathing has numerous benefits for both physical and mental health, including stress management.
Here are some of the benefits of diaphragmatic breathing:
Reduces stress and anxiety: When we are stressed or anxious, our breathing becomes shallow and rapid, which can further increase our feelings of stress and anxiety. Diaphragmatic breathing, on the other hand, slows down our breathing and triggers the relaxation response, which helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
Improves lung function: Diaphragmatic breathing can improve the function of the lungs by increasing the amount of oxygen that is taken in with each breath. This can be especially helpful for people with lung conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Lowers blood pressure: Deep breathing can help to lower blood pressure by reducing the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's stress response.
Increases mindfulness: Practicing diaphragmatic breathing can help to increase mindfulness and focus by bringing your attention to the present moment and away from distracting thoughts.
Improves digestion: Diaphragmatic breathing can help to stimulate the vagus nerve, which plays a role in digestion. This can improve digestion and reduce symptoms such as bloating and constipation.
Overall, diaphragmatic breathing is a simple and effective technique that can be used to manage stress and improve overall health. By making it a regular part of your routine, you can experience the many benefits that this technique has to offer.
AMPERAGE - NON-STIM PRE-WORKOUT OIL
-
AMPERAGE is an oil formula designed to assist with achieving your performance goals. This is a keto-friendly product that may be taken prior to exercise as an alternative to high-stim pre-workouts.
-
WHY PEPPERMINT OIL?
-
Peppermint oil is the star of the amperage show! The flavour shines through and the amazing benefits of peppermint oil should not be overlooked.
-
At Silverback Chiropractic, Dr Adam uses the benefits of peppermint oil to improve airway function. Peppermint oil has been used both inhaled and ingested to improve bronchoconstriction (constriction of the airways).
-
For those with exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, essential peppermint oil reduced the release of histamines and consequently reduces the constrictive effect of histamine on the airways meaning more oxygen into the lungs and further into the working muscles.
-
Dr Adam uses it when experiencing a sore throat from lots of talking and coaching fitness classes as essential peppermint oil has a documented calming effect on the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
-
GRIP STRENTH:
Research shows that peppermint oil has demonstrated performance-enhancing effects with a significant increase in the grip force (36.1%), standing vertical jump (7.0%), and standing long jump (6.4%).(see ATP Science link below)
-
Why grip strength? Do you want to increase and maintain muscle mass? If you can lift heavier and increase your endurance on a pull-up bar you are increasing your chances of meeting these goals. To do this you need to have good grip strength, you can’t lift if you can’t keep your grip.
-
PERFORMANCE:
In order to increase performance and endurance, you need oxygen! Oxygen combined with calories makes aerobic energy, to perform you need energy! Peppermint oil helps open up the lungs for oxygen to flow freely.
-

Chiropractic care can have a positive impact on breathing for some people. Here's how:
-
Improves spinal alignment/function: The spinal column is the armour around the nervous system, and when it is not functioning well, it can interfere with proper breathing patterns. Chiropractic care focuses on correcting vertebral subluxation patterns or improving spinal function, which can improve breathing by allowing the chest and lungs to expand more fully and effectively.
-
Reduces tension in the neck and chest: Tension in the neck and chest can restrict breathing and make it harder to fully expand the lungs. Chiropractic adjustments may help reduce tension in these areas, allowing for more effective and efficient breathing.
-
Increases lung capacity: Improved spinal function and reduced tension can increase lung capacity, which can lead to better oxygenation of the body and improved breathing.
-
Relieves respiratory conditions: Chiropractic care has been associated in relieving respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. By reducing tension and improving spinal function and alignment, chiropractic care can help improve breathing and reduce symptoms of these conditions.
-
Chiropractic care can have a positive impact on breathing by improving spinal function and alignment, reducing tension in the neck and chest, increasing lung capacity, and relieving respiratory conditions.
-
"Chiropractic Adjustments and Respiratory Function: A Systematic Review" (2017): found that chiropractic care can improve respiratory function and improve breathing patterns.
"The Effects of Chiropractic Adjustment on Lung Capacity in Patients with Asthma: A Pilot Study" (2014): This pilot study found that chiropractic care improved lung capacity in patients with asthma.
"Chiropractic Management of Respiratory Disorders: A Systematic Review" (2018): found that chiropractic care can be effective in managing respiratory disorders and improving breathing patterns.
"Chiropractic Care for Respiratory Disorders: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials" (2017): found that chiropractic care can improve breathing patterns and relieve symptoms of respiratory disorders.
Breathing is a complex process that is controlled by the nervous system, and it also influences the nervous system in several ways:
-
1. Autonomic nervous system: Breathing is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, which controls the body's automatic functions, such as heart rate and digestion. The autonomic nervous system is divided into two branches: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. When we breathe deeply and slowly, it activates the parasympathetic branch, which helps to relax the body and reduce stress.
-
2. Oxygenation: The nervous system relies on a constant supply of oxygen to function properly. When we breathe deeply and fully, we take in more oxygen, which can help to nourish the brain and other parts of the nervous system.
-
3. Carbon dioxide elimination: Breathing also plays a role in eliminating carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism, which can build up and cause problems if not eliminated properly.
-
4. Mind-body connection: Breathing can also influence the nervous system through the mind-body connection. Controlled breathing techniques such as yoga, meditation, and pranayama can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by influencing the activity of the nervous system
-
5. Heart rate variability: Breathing can also influence the heart rate variability (HRV), which is a measure of the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. Controlled breathing techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing can increase HRV, which is associated with good health.
-
It's important to note that breathing is a complex process and the relationship between breathing and the nervous system is still being studied. Therefore, it is important to seek guidance from a healthcare professional before starting any breathing practices.
-
Chiropractic care has been shown to have a positive impact on sleep quality for some people. Here's how:
Alleviates pain: Chiropractic care can help reduce or eliminate pain, which can be a major factor in sleep problems. By reducing pain, chiropractic care may help improve sleep quality.
Improves spinal alignment: The spinal column is the protective armour around the nervous system, and when its function is impeded it can cause discomfort and interfere with the quality of sleep. By correcting spinal function, which can help improve sleep quality by reducing discomfort and promoting a more restful sleep.
Reduces stress: Chiropractic care can also help reduce stress, which can be a significant contributor to sleep problems. By reducing stress, chiropractic care can help improve sleep quality.
Regulates hormones: Chiropractic care may also regulate hormones, including those responsible for regulating sleep. Chiropractic care can increase the production of melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleep, and reduce cortisol, a hormone that interferes with sleep.
Chiropractic care can help improve sleep quality by reducing pain, correcting spinal function, reducing stress, and regulating hormones. You may want to consider seeking chiropractic care as a natural and non-invasive approach to improving sleep quality.
"Chiropractic Management of Insomnia: A Systematic Review" (2017): This systematic review of the literature found that chiropractic care can be an effective treatment for insomnia and can improve sleep quality
"The Effectiveness of Chiropractic Manipulation on Sleep Quality: A Randomized Controlled Trial" (2015): This randomized controlled trial found that chiropractic care improved sleep quality in patients with chronic neck pain
"Chiropractic Care and Sleep Disorders: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" (2017): This meta-analysis of the literature found that chiropractic care can improve sleep quality in patients with sleep disorders
"Chiropractic Care for Insomnia: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials" (2017): This systematic review found that chiropractic care can be an effective treatment for insomnia and can improve sleep quality
