The Horse on Crown Street in Surry Hills is looking for a new head chef.

We’re a busy pub currently trading Wednesday – Sunday lunch and dinner with a focus on late nights, tasty pub meals, craft beers and cocktails.

The successful applicant will be fully qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a head chef in a busy kitchen, or 3 years in a pub or similar kitchen environment.

The Role:

-Ensuring quality of product and service, including performance reviews
-Menu Development
-Stock ordering and management
-Work alongside the General Manager to help build our brand and maintain house standards
-Be the leader of an exceptional team, effective management of kitchen staff, including rostering and timesheet management
-Effective communication with management and front of house staff
-Full financial accountability, menu costing, kitchen staff wages, budgeting etc.

You will be:

-Cool under pressure and excited by a challenging fast paced environment
-A service professional who is passionate about building a business
-An established and experienced Head Chef
-Ambitious and keen to make your mark
-Be fit and energetic
-A real people person who can influence, persuade and lead from the front.
-Respectful of others, both patrons and staff – We do not tolerate any discriminatory language or behaviour.
-A citizen or a resident of Australia
You will have:
-Minimum 2 years’ experience within a pub restaurant or similar kitchen environment
-Managed teams of kitchen staff
-Managed high turnover businesses
-Have a “can do” attitude
-A passion for all things food and kitchen related
-High standard of food preparation and productivity
-Ability to work under pressure
-Ability to plan ahead
-Strong communication, attention to detail and leadership skills.
