Honoured to have our Founder Traidy be highlighted by The Date-Ability ProjectπŸ₯³

Happy FRIYAY!
Shining some light on Chosen Family on this beautiful day 🌻
Meet- Traidy Naidoo!
Traidy is the proud Founder of Chosen Family and serving as its current General Manager.

A little bit about TRAIDY 😎
When I first arrived in Australia, one of my initial jobs was as a tradie - you know, getting my hands dirty! But that's just one side of me. I'm also a passionate speaker, and here's a fun fact: in the past, I used to be a songwriter and even led worship back in my home country. One of my absolute joys in life is visiting the beach, and my happy place is wandering through Adairs or 1826 Furniture, exploring the latest in the world of decor.

As for my downtime, you can find me binge-watching Netflix and Disney shows. Crime thrillers and documentaries are my jam, and I can't resist a good mystery. I consider myself a healthy sceptic, but I also have a spiritual side. I'm all about finding that balance between reason and wonder. What really lights up my day is being part of celebrations and gatherings with people who want to make a positive impact on the world around them. It's where I get my energy, and it's such a fulfilling experience! And yes, I'm a "lamb," darling. Mariah Carey's music is my ultimate jam, and I'm all in for those high notes and chart-topping hits. So that's a little snapshot of me, Traidy - a bit of a jack-of-all-trades with a heart full of enthusiasm and a zest for life and people.

Traidy's Passions 😍
In Australia, I've dedicated the majority of my time to purpose-driven organizations, where I've had the privilege of collaborating with an incredibly diverse range of individuals and communities. This includes people from various cultural backgrounds, members of the LGBTIQA+ community, individuals with disabilities, and those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. I've passionately advocated for neurodivergent individuals, children in Out of Home Care, the LGBTIQA+ community, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues. My commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond Australia. I've generously volunteered my time in resource-scarce communities in South Africa, where I witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by these communities. During my teenage years, I taught in schools where children came from backgrounds encompassing 12 different languages and diverse tribes. I played a vital role in educating these children about critical topics such as HIV & AIDS, s*x education, anti-bullying and harassment, and the importance of affirming religious freedom.
Motivated by my experiences and a profound sense of purpose, I established my own non-denominational, LGBTQIA-affirming organization, which evolved into a safe haven for creatives and those who often find themselves overlooked or misunderstood within the university community.

My unique blend of work experiences, coupled with my diverse cultural, faith, and s*xual background, has led to instances where I am perceived as "too different." However, I firmly believe that it is precisely this diversity and these varied experiences that enable me to offer a unique perspective and make a profound impact in the areas I am most passionate about.

The Traidy/Chosen Family point of difference πŸ‘Œ
We are bringing joy back to the sector. Sadly, the sector has become way too commercialised and void of empathy, compassion and ensuring our participants have their rights to self-determination fostered. As a team, our lived experience coupled with our trauma informed & intersectional framework makes us different and a delight in the sector. Chosen Family provides a community-centric ecosystem with services that are: multicultural, flexible and enriching to all. Our community continues to reimagine how our services will create platforms of equality, inclusion and belonging. Our services are projects of our co-laboured efforts that have trauma informed practice and person-centred values weaved into them. We are different because we support those who fall within the gaps.

Much Love to Traidy & The Chosen Family team.
Chosen family provide Core Supports, Respite & Community Access.

Happy Pride Month! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
