'A fresh digital series uncovering the culinary hotspots that are shaping the culture of Western Sydney's suburbs. Over eight Friday nights, Arka Das will be joined for a meal by special guests from the Here Out West film.'

The Brief:
The vibrant cultures and locations featured in the food documentary '8 Nights Out West' inspired a score that blends energy, diversity, and grit. We chose contemporary hip-hop and R&B as the foundation for our music, seamlessly integrating ethnic influences while keeping a cohesive and engaging tone. This resulted in a soundtrack that perfectly captures the documentary's essence, immersing viewers in captivating rhythms and rich cultural traditions.

To authentically capture hip-hop and R&B's essence and diverse influences, we prioritised simplicity and authenticity. We focused on crafting infectious beats and memorable hooks, creating a unifying musical thread. This approach respects the genre's roots and amplifies the voices of Western Sydney's dynamic communities and flavours.

Christmas Presence - Show up for those who matter

Our musical approach for the MJ Bale brand aimed to embody the core values of sophistication, elegance, and strength. We carefully crafted a score that utilized the cyclical nature of the day, with the arpeggios of the solo violin providing a sense of momentum that builds towards a climactic moment of emotional release.

As the music reaches this peak, we introduce a new musical theme that serves as an answer to all the questions posed earlier in the score, evoking a sense of relief and comfort reminiscent of the warm embrace of family after a long day. The end result was a score that perfectly captured the essence of the MJ Bale brand and resonated with audiences on a deeply emotional level.

Onyx Music is proud to be writing the score for 's upcoming interactive game 'Samurai Unicorn'.

In the world of Sydney3, the music plans to be more than just a mere background accompaniment to the game’s action. It needs to be an integral part of the player’s experience, adding emotional depth and nuance to the game’s already richly-detailed world.

We are approaching the score with the idea that the music itself is a character in the game, just like the monsters, dream eaters, and Samurai Unicorn. As such, the direction is to be unique, memorable, and provocative. Our inspirations are from a wide variety of sources, blending sounds from the 80s and 90s with more contemporary elements to create something that hints at nostalgia while still presenting a fresh and pioneering approach to the world of video games.

Each piece of music in the game will be crafted as a statement piece, designed to enhance the player’s experience and provide a deeper emotional connection to the world of Sydney3. Whether it's the haunting melodies of the Dream Eater’s theme or the pulsating rhythms of the game’s climactic battle sequences, every musical choice will be made with a specific purpose in mind.

Overall, our goal is to create a score that would transport players deep into the world of Sydney3, immersing them in a richly-textured sonic landscape that perfectly complements the game’s action and themes.
