Built in 1874 and initially opened as The Waratah, one of Glebe’s first pubs. It then became the Australian Joint Stock Bank branch of Glebe. After that it has had many iterations, a boot factory, tea rooms, antique store, pizza shop and also a private investigators office in the late 60s/70s. In fact during the build I met the private investigator’s wife who was curious about what was going on onsite. She told me how she saved the building, which was set for destruction, by negotiating to restore it in return for low rent. The grand salon was her living room and even featured in Vogue at the time, the noir room her daughter’s bedroom and the office her sewing room. This is just one of the thousands of stories these wall have stored, 149 years of time past. The last 4 years have had their fair share. It has been a pleasure to host your most intimate gatherings full of laughs, good times and memories. A dream come true.

The Summer of 2019 was a distinct year for all of us, the last photo shows the orange glow of the awful bush fires that burned across NSW, and only 3 months after that came our first “lockdown”. But we are still here. Testament to the amazing, talented and dedicated team, committed to this little Georgian Victorian corner block. A magnetic little place whose unknown stories draw you in to become part of its tapestry.
