What a beautiful performance by Jess Hitchcock and the ACO!

In 1788 Robert Burns scribed the ancient song ‘Auld lang syne' (time gone by) for the Scots Musical Museum, a song about preserving old friendships and looking back over the year that has past.

It is now sung in many countries on New Year’s Eve just before the clock strikes midnight. Most people only know and sing the first verse and chorus, here is the complete lyrics.

We as performers, teachers and students spend so much time focusing on perfecting our craft that we sometimes need to be reminded of the purpose of why music exists in human culture.

Music is a human activity which evokes emotion and social bonding. Participation shouldn’t be reserved for only the very talented and gifted because it is an intrinsic form of human communication for everyone.

Sometimes we forget that.

Congratulations to April-Marie Neho, and her two daughters Eva and Tatiana, who will be performing together in ‘South Pacific’ on board Cunard’s ‘Queen Elizabeth’ cruise liner as she makes her voyage in March to Japan! April has performed the role of ‘Bloody Mary’ many times with professional musical theatre companies all around the world. Tatiana started singing lessons when she was eight years old and her sister Eva is also very musical playing both piano and clarinet! Congratulations ladies! Welcome to the cruise ship entertaining world! What a fantastic mother daughter/s experience! 🚢 🎤 🎶 🎭
